The MSZ-009H3 Fafnir is a mobile suit that appears in Mobile Suit Gundam Walpurgis.  

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The Fafnir is a protype transformable MS developed by the Earth Federation that is equipped with the same Grimoire System seen on the AGX-11 Over.on and AMX-114 Demeter. It is designed to resemble the ORX-005 Gaplant extra so with its Chobham Armor equipped sharing a general shape as the Gaplant along with its transformation and shield binders. It also comes equipped with the F.A.V.N.R system and the Blue Grimoire to increase performance of the machine and pilot.

A variant of the MSZ-010 ΖΖ Gundam's High Mega Cannon. It does not seem to be any different from the ZZ Gundam's.

A variant of the ORX-005 Gaplant's beam rifles. It does not seem to be any different from the Gaplant's.

Special Equipment & Features

• Blue Grimoire Quasi-psycommu System

A version of the Grimoire system which is a Bio-sensor made by Paptimus Scirocco. This system allows for better control of the MS by a NewType pilot as well as being able to replicate the "Eldridge effect" (the effect where the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam disable PMX-003 The-O's movement during their final encounter).

• Chobham Armor

The MSZ-009H Fafnir is equipped with Chobham armor similar to that of the RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1 the armor is designed to act as purgeable extra armor to protect the main suit. The armor is styled off of the ORX-005 Gaplant with extra armor on the legs, waist, shoulders, head and back.

• F.A.V.N.R System

The F.A.V.N.R system is a NewType enhancement system designed to increase the performance of NewType Pilots, it is also shown to increase aggression and cause temporary insanity in the pilot. When this system is activated it automatically purges the Chobham armor.

History

In U.C. 0089, the MSZ-009H Fafnir was part of a conspiracy by Raymond Mekynes and Clan to bring about Walpurgis Night and revive Paptimus Scirocco using Mashiro Oaks. During this the pilot of the Fafnir, Alize Mateba, was taken into custody aboard an Earth Federation ship before eventually teaming up with them to stop Walpurgis Night from accruing.
