The Mass Production Type Ζ Gundam is a Mobile Suit Variation from the series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
Technology & Combat Characteristics
Consider a scale-down version of the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam, the Mass Production Type Ζ Gundam lacks the transformable ablity, and it replaced the Gundam head with one similar to the MSA-003 Nemo. Its armaments is simple, consists of head-mounted vulcan gun, a mega beam rifle, a pair of beam sabers which can be stored in recharge racks on the hip armor of the suit.
Armaments
- Vulcan Guns
- A standard armament of the mobile suits in this era. These head mounted shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire, but have little power and are generally ineffective against mobile suits; however, the vulcan gun can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors. These weapons are ideal for shooting down small, fast moving, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small vehicles.
- Mega Beam Rifle
- Unlike normal Suits, the Mass Production Type Ζ Gundam is equipped with a more powerful Mega Beam Gun. The power of this weapon's beam can destroy a mobile suit with on hit, or even a standard mobile suit shield with constant firing. But its consummate in energy made this weapon, powered be a replaceable E-Pac, can not firing rapidly.
- Beam Saber
- The standard close range armament for most Mobile Suits. The beam saber is a small cylindrical device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by an energy capacitor that is recharged from special racks. The beam saber is capable of cutting through any metal that has not been treated with anti-beam coating. The Mass Production Type Ζ Gundam is equipped with two beam sabers stored in recharge rack on the hips.
History
After the high performance of the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam became evident, Anaheim Electronics planned to mass produce the suit. Using data from Zeta Gundam and MSZ-007 Z Rapier I, they created the Mass Production Type Ζ Gundam, which removed the transformation and replaced the head with one similar to the MSA-003 Nemo. However, this design turned out to be inferior to their other project, the MSR-00100 Hyaku Shiki Kai and its development was halted upon mass production. Still, the Ζ Gundam became the basis for the design of later mass-production mobile suits such as the Earth Federation's Ζeta Plus mobile suit series and Londo Bell's RGZ-91 Re-GZ.
