- The design for Original Zeta Gundam is derived from the grand prize winner of the "Zeta Gundam Design Concours". The original name of the mobile suit as shown in the contest was スーパーディテールガンダムMKII ("Super Detail Gundam Mk-II").
- The official illustration was done by Kouichi Tokita in November of 1985
