Template:Infobox/Mobile Weapon Ver.2The MSN-03-2 Psyco Geara Doga is a Newtype-use variant of the AMS-119 Geara Doga. The mobile suit appears in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - Beltorchika's Children, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - Beltorchika's Children (Manga) and CCA Gundam Weapons series. It replaces the MSN-03 Jagd Doga from the original story and is piloted by Grave Guss, who essentially plays the part of Gyunei Guss in this interpretation of events.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

Built using the AMS-119 Geara Doga as a base, the MSN-03-2 Psyco Geara Doga was created for use by Newtype and Cyber-Newtype pilots. To fulfill its role, the unit was fitted with a state-of-the-art Psycoframe Cockpit in order to amplify the pilot's Newtype ability. In terms of armaments, it was fitted with six funnels (three mounted on each shoulder) for conducting all-range attacks, as well as a Beam Shot Rifle and Shield.

Armaments

  • Funnels
The Psyco Geara Doga utilizes six Funnels, with three mounted on each shoulder, that can be controlled by the Psycoframe installed around the Cockpit. The Funnels are powerful yet cheap to produce, so they cannot be recharged and are discarded when they have used up their energy.
  • Beam Shot Rifle
The beam shot rifle is an optional, hand-carried ranged beam weapon. The beam shot rifle is noticeably larger than most other beam rifles and is powered by a rechargeable energy cap. A unique point of this rifle is that it has two barrels, one for firing normal beam shots and another for firing a scattershot-like beam blasts. The latter is similar to what is fired by a shotgun, the wider beam spreads the damage dealt by the shot rifle over a greater area.
  • Shield
A basic optional arm-mounted defense armament for many mobile suits. The shield is a thick sheet of armor designed to take severe punishment that would normally destroy a mobile suit. Since the introduction of beam weaponry, shields have been treated with an anti-beam coating allowing it to withstand several beam shots before the coating wears off. Typically physical shields can only take so much damage before they succumb to the pressure and break.

Special Equipment & Features

  • Psycoframe Cockpit
The Psycoframe is a technology that builds the brainwave-to-machine code translator known as Psycommu into the atom-level of the metal frame of a Mobile Suit. It could amplify the pilot's own Newtype ability to the extent of allowing him/her to control the mobile suit as if it were his/her own body.

History

At least two units of Psyco Geara Doga existed, the first unit was shot down during battle at Fifth Luna and its psycoframe was used to enhance the RX-93-ν2 Hi-ν Gundam. The second unit went in combat against Beltorchika Irma's RGZ-91 Re-GZ, but was destroyed in combat.

Notes and Trivia

  • In the original mechanical design from Beltorchika's Children novelization, the Psyco Geara Doga's Beam Shot Rifle closely resembled the German MP 40 submachine gun. In subsequent Gunpla conversions and merchandises, its Beam Shot Rifle resemble closely to the MSN-04 Sazabi's version featured in Char's Counterattack motion picture.
