The MSN-02 Perfect Zeong is a custom mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt manga. It is co-piloted by Io Fleming and Lily Shellina.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A modified version of one of the Zeong units seized by the Earth Federation Forces during the Battle of A Baoa Qu. The mark of the Federation Forces has been added to its chest. The cockpit has been modified to accommodate two passengers, Io and Lily, making it a double-seat model. The interior is filled with shock-absorbing gel to withstand G-force, and an panoramic monitor has been adopted. In addition, three propellant tanks and large boosters have been added to the bottom of the fuselage. The armaments of the Zeong can be used as they are, and an armament container with missiles and beam sabers has been added to the front skirt. An all-range attack using the psycommu system is possible as well, but it has a weakness that prevents it from being used when Lily is in a bad condition.
Armaments[]
- Wired 5-barrel Mega Particle Cannon
Unchanged from the original Zeong, the Perfect Zeong has two of these wired Bit weapons as forearms, with a mega particle cannon within each finger.
- Waist Mega Particle Cannon
As with the original Zeong, the Perfect Zeong has two of these weapons mounted in the torso.
- Head Mega Particle Cannon
Another of the Zeong's original armaments, it is located within the mouth of the head.
- Beam Saber
Stored within the front skirt's central armor panels, these high-output beam sabers are capable of overmatching and destroying a heat hawk. They are deployed by sub-arms within the skirt armor in a manner not dissimilar to that of the PMX-003 The-O
- 6-tube missile pod
6 of these missile pods are stored within the front skirt, giving the Perfect Zeong heavier firepower and ammo capacity than its original unit.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Psycommu System
During the One Year War, the researchers of the Flanagan Institute discovered that Newtypes emit powerful thoughtwaves - similar to regular brainwaves, but not electrical in nature - which they call psycowaves. The Flanagan Institute goes on to develop a mind-machine interface called the psycommu (psycho-communicator) system, which receives these thoughtwaves and translates them into computer commands. Using this interface a Newtype pilot can direct remote weapons, and operate huge mobile armors, by thought alone. The Perfect Zeong likely uses a special version of this system that allows both its pilots to control the unit, however Io has to be completely in sync with Lily to draw out the unit's full potential.
- Sub-arm
Mounted on the front skirt armor of the Perfect Zeong, the usually hidden sub-arms are able to wield beam sabers that grant the Perfect Zeong an element of surprise as well as close combat ability.
History[]
The Perfect Zeong's first sortie was against a Psycho Zaku training facility hidden within a derelict colony in Side 4. This operation involved drawing out a scouting force from the training facility using a fleet of dummy ships masquerading as a Federation fleet passing through the facility's vicinity. After the scouting force (consisting of 4 MS-17 Galbaldy α and one Psycho Zaku) was detected by a network of Haros hidden within floating debris, the Perfect Zeong deployed one of its Mega Particle Cannons against one of the approaching Galbaldys, severely damaging its thrusters and leaving it open to a surprise attack from one of its wired 5-barrel Mega Particle Cannons. Revealing itself from the facade of one of the dummy ships, it quickly charged the scouting force, with a follow-up attack with its head-mounted Mega Particle Cannon destroying another Galbaldy. The Psycho Zaku engaged the Perfect Zeong in a high-speed battle, while the other two surviving Galbaldys disengaged and attempted a last-ditch attack on the Beehive II. After a long fight, Lily began to nosebleed just as the Perfect Zeong gained the advantage, forcing Io to retreat momentarily as the Psycho Zaku counterattacked, as the Perfect Zeong would not be able to perform an all-out attack. However, both Io and Lily sensed an incoming piece of colony wreckage and managed to dodge it, while the pursuing Psycho Zaku was hit and immobilized, giving them an opening to destroy it. After reaffirming each other, Io and Lily moved to support Bianca and her team, still fighting within the derelict colony. They arrived just in time to destroy the final Psycho Zaku deployed there, ending the operation on a highly successful note.
