The MSN-01 High Mobility Psycommu System Zaku (aka MSN-01 Psycommu System Zaku) is an experimental mobile suit introduced in the design series Mobile Suit Variation.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
This is a modified version of the second MS-06Z Psycommu System Zaku unit. When the model number of the Zeong was changed from "MS-16X" to "MSN-02", this machine's model number was also changed to "MSN-01". Because the MS-06Z had limitations in collecting data on the Psycommu system during high-speed maneuvers, the legs were omitted on this machine and replaced with two sets of high mobility thruster units, each equipped with four large, high output, thermonuclear rocket engines. This gave it mobility comparable to that of a mobile armor.
However, as the mobile suit's propellant capacity could not keep up with the added rocket engines, it could only be used for a short time. Despite this, the machine was able to collect valuable data that contributed to the Zeong's development. Furthermore, its test results also revealed the limitations of a Zaku-II based design, leading to the development of the Zeong as a completely new machine. Although a test machine, there were records of it participating in the defense of A Baoa Qu along with the MS-06Z.
Armaments[]
- Wired 5-barrel Mega Particle Cannon
- Equipped with a powerful mega particle cannon installed in each finger, the forearms of the High Mobility Psycommu System Zaku can detach from its elbows and function as wired remote weaponry, enabling all-range attacks. The Wired 5-barrel Mega Particle Cannon can easy sink a battleship in a single attack.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Psycommu System
- A man-machine interface that allows a Newtype pilot to control the mobile suit and its remote weaponry by thoughts alone.
History[]
There were records of the High Mobility Psycommu System Zaku and MS-06Z Psycommu System Zaku Unit 3 being transferred to A Baoa Qu, and deployed for combat there.[1] Another unit, with a purple color scheme, was seen raiding Solomon after the Earth Federation Forces had captured the base.[2]
Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. ENGAGE[]
At Granada, another High Mobility Psycommu System Zaku was converted to have two personnel onboard, and was piloted by mobile armor test pilot Ashley Horn, while use of the psycommu weapons was up to Peche Montagne, a transfer from the Flanagan Institute. This was requested by Dr. Flanagan in hopes it would acclimate Peche to high mobility combat more quickly. They later receive orders to redeploy to A Baoa Qu, along with the rest of the Kycilia Fleet. This tandem High Mobility Psycommu System Zaku also saw action at A Baoa Qu but, when the Solar Ray superweapon is fired, the shock overwhelms Peche and she loses consciousness, forcing Ashley to return to base.
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky[]
One unit piloted by Billy Hickam was deployed at A Baoa Qu to fend off the EFSF's onslaught.[3]

Notes & Trivia[]
- On November 2017, the Japanese website Gundam.info announced that the High Mobility Psycommu System Zaku won an online census, where fans voted for a next MSV unit that will be made as a new Gunpla.[4] There has been no follow-up information regarding a new Psycommu Test High Mobility Type Zaku kit from Bandai ever since.
