The MSK-003 Wagtail II is a mobile suit that appears in Advance of Zeta: The Traitor to Destiny and is piloted by Van Asiliaino and Jorn Juliana.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The MSK-003 Wagtail II is a custom mobile suit used by Van Asiliaino, a member of the anti-Titans organization Keraunos. The Wagtail II is a further upgrade of Van's previous RGM-79C GM Type C "Wagtail" with parts from other mobile suits. Parts from the RGM-79N GM Custom have been incorporated into the joints and torso, while the head, backpack, and cockpit block have been replaced with prototype parts. The GM Custom parts strengthen the frame, allowing the Wagtail Unit to be operated at its full output. The Wagtail Unit's armor has also been changed to those made of Gundarium Gamma alloy. The backpack is equipped with wing binders featuring numerous thrusters and hardpoints for mounting weapons. The new head features a twin-eye sensor surrounded by a ricochet board. Due to incorporating so many parts from other mobile suits, the GM designation has been removed from the unit's name and it is given a new model number by Karaba.
Armaments[]
- 60mm Vulcan Gun
- A pair of shell-firing armament built into the head. These rapid-fire but low offensive power weapons are used for destroying lightly-armored units, restricting enemy movements, intercepting missiles, intimidation, etc.
- Beam Saber
- The beam saber is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It is capable of cutting through any armor not treated with anti-beam coating. Besides the original four beam sabers on the shoulders and in the shield, the Wagtail II now possesses stabilizers which double as beam sabers.
- Shield
- The Wagtail is equipped with a modified version of the GM Command's NFHI RGM-M-Sh-AGD Shield that features anti-beam coating and has had its upper half removed so as to not interfere with the mobile suit's shoulder thrusters. Two beam sabers can be stored on the back of the shield.
- Specialized Beam Rifle
- A modified version of the GM II's beam rifle, it has a different sensor unit and a lengthened barrel.
- HFW-GR·MR82-90mm GM Rifle
- The GM Rifle is a simple shell-firing machine gun, it has nowhere near the power of a beam rifle, but can be cheaply produced and easily maintained. It features different barrel, sensor unit, stock and magazine configurations that allow for different ballistic and handling properties.
- BLASH HB-L-07/N-STD Hyper Bazooka
- Technically a large rocket launcher, it could fire several 360mm missiles to attack targets at long range. No mass-production MS's armor is able to stop this weapon. While very powerful, it has a slow rate of fire and a fairly little amount of ammunition. Most often used to take out slow, heavily armored targets.
History[]
Advance of Zeta: The Traitor to Destiny[]
During the Gryps Conflict, the rapid technological advancements caused standard MS design to be inferior, even an upgraded design such as RGM-79C GM Type C "Wagtail" piloted by Van Asiliaino was not able to perform equally with state of the art MS such as RMS-108 Marasai or NRX-044 Asshimar. therefore the GM Wagtail was upgraded with new armor material, RGM-79N GM Custom parts, and various experimental parts resulting the MSK-003 Wagtail II. This Wagtail II was used by Keraunos who joined forces with Karaba, and fought various battle against more advanced Titans MS during the conflict. Unfortunately during the Battle of New Guinea Base it was severely damaged by NRX-044Q Asshimar [Danda-Chakra] and a Marasai. Due to the damage it suffered, the Wagtail II was upgraded with any available parts by Keraunos engineer, such as RMS-106 Hizack backpack, painted green color similiar to those RGM-79R GM II fielded by both the AEUG and Karaba, and the unit was renamed into Wagtail IIex.[1]
Advance of Zeta: Mace of Judgement[]
In U.C. 0087, the Wagtail IIex participated during AEUG and Karaba joint operation to assault Titans Earth headquarters at Kilimanjaro Base and piloted by Jorn Juliana. During the battle the Wagtail IIex is one of the unit that tried to attack the MRX-009 Psyco Gundam, but its left arm got hit by the MA mega particle cannon. Fortunately the unit was only suffered minor damage and still combat capable and manage to destroy some of the defense turret near the Base, however Wagtail IIex was spotted by a MS-06K Zaku Cannon piloted by Iris Alison and both unit engaged in intense combat.[2]
Due to the skill of Jorn he is able to utilize Wagtail IIex high mobility despite the damage it suffer, and manage to outmaneuver the Zaku Cannon. However when it was almost destroyed the Zaku Cannon both unit was damaged by the Psyco Gundam beam barrage.[2] The Wagtail IIex left limbs was suffered severe damage after the beam barrage alongside with the Zaku Cannon but its pilot survive the battle. Due to this a fateful encounter between Jorn and Iris and he manage to convince her to join AEUG.[3]
Variants[]
- MSK-003 Wagtail IIex
- Featured in Advance of Zeta: Mace of Judgement. A modified version of Wagtail II by Keraunos after it was severely damaged during the battle of New Guinea Base. Due to the Keraunos lacks spare parts for the MS, Wagtail II was modified with available parts around and two version of Wagtail II EX exited. FIrst version is modified with RMS-106 Hizack its binders removed, and painted with green color to match Karaba RGM-79R GM II color.[1] Second version is modified with GM II Arm unit, replaced with RGM-79C GM Type C "Wagtail" head and prototype version of RGM-86R GM III Backpack. The second version was later assigned to Jorn Juliana during siege of Kilimanjaro Base[4]
