The MSA-005X-2 Methuss X-2 is a prototype mobile suit that is featured in Anaheim Laboratory Log.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Methuss X-2 was the second prototype unit in the Methuss project, and was developed by Anaheim Electronics' Granada branch. The design team for the X-2 included former members of MIP, which developed Mobile Weapons for the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. In contrast to the MSA-005X-1 Methuss X-1, the X-2 was designed to operate both in space and under gravity. Inspired by the ORX-005 Gaplant, the X-2 is equipped with thruster-equipped binders which mount large mega particle cannons. The X-2’s intended role was anti-ship combat, and a drastic weight reduction allowed it to carry out hit-and-run attacks with its mega particle cannons. However, the X-2's weight reduction resulted in thinner armor. This, along with the X-2's beam sabers being fixed to the its knees, left the mobile suit with compromised close combat abilities. Two optional boosters were developed to be equipped on the X-2 for long-distance travel. Test results from the X-2 as well as the X-1 and X-3 were used to develop the finalized MSA-005 Methuss.
Armaments[]
- Beam Saber
- The Methuss X-2 is armed with a beam saber mounted on each knee. The beam sabers are permanently fixed and cannot be removed, impacting the mobile suit's close combat capability
- Large Mega Particle Cannon
- A large mega particle cannon is mounted on each of the X-2's articulated binders, which end up on the unit's shoulders in mobile suit mode. The mega particle cannons serve as the mobile suit's most powerful weapon as well as its only long-range armament.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Large Booster
- The X-2 can be equipped with one of two large booster units for long-distance travel. Booster 1 is simply composed of two large propellant tanks coupled together, while Booster 2 is a more complete rocket unit based on the custom booster used by the ORX-005 Gaplant.
