The MS-08TX[NF] Efreet Jäger (MS-08TX[NF] イフリート・イェーガー?) is a mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The standard MS-08TX Efreet was highly prized for its excellent performance, and the limited number of units which were produced were often converted into experimental prototypes. Despite being a close combat mobile suit, one such Efreet was modified for the use of Noisy Fairy Squadron member Helena Hegel and honed into a guerrilla sniper unit. It shares many of the design features and technology developed for the MS-08TX/N Efreet Nacht at Odessa, such as the removal of the air vents on the chest to better hide its heat signature, and twin boosters on the legs to increase its mobility. As a result of these features, it becomes difficult for the enemy to detect the Efreet Jäger's movements, allowing it to quickly reposition in a hectic battlefield and, if necessary, engage in close combat. A new dedicated physical sniper rifle was also designed for the Efreet Jäger, which is capable of switching ammunition types to make it capable of anti-aircraft interception, and a foldable knee pad to increase stability when kneeling to steady aim. Though it is not exactly well-rounded, because of its versatility the Efreet Jäger could perform in many situations, from close combat to sniping, which fit Helena Hegel's new fighting style and the demands the changing tides of war had brung.
Armaments[]
- Sniper Rifle
- A long range physical sniper rifle. The Efreet Jäger's rifle can switch between ammunition types. It has the option of high-powered penetrating rounds for anti-mobile suit combat and also explosive rounds for anti-aircraft combat.
- Sawed-Off Shotgun
- A short barreled pump-action shotgun, it is the same model used by the standard MS-08TX Efreet and MS-18E Kämpfer. Despite being referred to as a "sawed-off" shotgun, the barrel is not any shorter than usual, but the wire stock has been removed for increased portability. It can be stored on a rack on the rear skirt armor.
- Cracker Grenade
- Cracker grenades are explosive weapons, designed to be thrown by the mobile suit and detonate after a set amount of time. The "cracker" then breaks into several smaller munitions over a wide area. A chaff variant of grenade used by the Efreet Jäger can temporarily disrupt the radar of enemy mobile suits.
- Heat Knife
- A small curved-blade knife with remarkable handling, similar in design to a kukri. The blade can become super-heated to increase its cutting power.
- Camera Gun
- Developed for the MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type, it is essentially a compact, one-handed camcorder.
History[]
A number of modifications to Helena Hegel's MS-08TX Efreet were thought up by fellow Noisy Fairy Squadron member Mia Brinkman after observing her fighting in it, also taking into consideration her past with the MS-06L Zaku II Sniper Type to create a versatile unit for close combat and sniping. Mia and Irmela Gruber's overhaul, which also took advantage of refits for the Efreet already developed at Odessa, was ready by the end of November and Helena Hegel would spend the rest of the war piloting the MS-08TX[NF] Efreet Jäger.
