The MS-06Rb-a Zaku II Unidentified Type (Solari) (無識別型ザクII（ソラリ機） Mushikibetsu-gata Zaku II Sorari-ki?) is a variant of MS-06F Zaku II F Type introduced in ONA Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.[1] It is piloted by Iria Solari of the Red Wolf Squadron.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
After Iria Solari's Zaku II F Type was destroyed by EFF's RX-78(G)E Gundam EX during the latter's surprise raid at Zeon-occupied military headquarter in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, she regained her own mobile suit thanks to the effort of her long time friend, Tech. Capt. Alfee Zydos and his mechanics corps at the Brigade Support Command's Recycling Centre. Solari's new Zaku does not have an official model number as it utilizes salvaged parts from dissembled Zaku IIs and other mobile weapons, with technical input from Solari based on her battlefield experience against the Gundam EX. Thanks to Zydos's efforts, it has the same performance as a regular Zaku II,[2] and it is characterized by a double armor shield on right shoulder, as well as pieces of caterpillar treads attached to the body for better protection against beam weapons. In addition, it still features Solari's trademark double communication antennas on both side of the head which resemble wolf ears, and has metallic nails embedded on its feet as a wolf motif. Due to a lack of the transparent visor, the monoeye for Solari's Zaku II is protected via a metallic cage built around the tracking area.[1]
Armaments[]
- Double Armor Shield
- Mounted on the right shoulder, it is an offensive-defensive device comprises of 2 pieces of armor plates taken from other mobile weapons with the outer layer is used to counter beam weapons, and the inner layer is installed with a total of 4 wire-guided missiles for surprise attack.
- Wire-Guided Missile
- Unlike the 3-tube Missile Pod, 4 individual missile is installed on the inner shield to provide powerful short- to mid-range range attack, especially in close-quarter situation. Guided by signals sent to the missile via thin wires connected between the base and its guidance mechanism, which is located inside the missile pod. As the missile flies, the wires are reeled out behind it for better precision and hit rate. The missile is available with a variety of warheads, including explosives, pellet shots and flashbang.[3]
- 120mm Machine Gun
- A standard weapon for Zaku type mobile suits. It is a shell firing gun that does not require energy to be used, however its effectiveness against heavy armor is very limited. It holds 100 rounds per drum with spare drums that can be stored on waist armor.
- 280mm Zaku Bazooka
- Another standard weapon for Zaku type MS, the bazooka fires explosive rounds that were quite effective against the armor of Earth Federation's mobile weapons and battleships. It is clip-fed with detachable magazine inserted into the top rear barrel.
- 3-tube Missile Pod
- Equipped with wire-guided missiles for accurate and powerful mid- to long-range range attack, the 3-tube missile pods can be mounted on the hardpoints of Zaku II's lower calves as well as forearms. Solari's unit has a total of four 3-tube missile pods.
- Heat Hawk
- An axe-shaped close combat weapon, it uses a super-heated blade to cut through the armor of enemy MS or vehicles. The thermal energy is generated by the power output of the Zaku II F Type's thermonuclear reactor and relayed through the MS' hands. The Heat Hawk can be mounted on the rear waist armor when not in use.

- Hardpoint
- An attachment location on a mobile suit's structural frame designed to carry an external load or weapon, such as missile pod. Solari's Zaku II has a total of four hardpoints, one on each forearm and one on each lower calf.
History[]
As soon as the two patched-up Zaku IIs were ready for Iria Solari and her Red Wolf squad mate Kneeland LeSean, they were put into action right away to counter the surprise raid by the Federal Ground Forces at the recycling centre.[3] The duo were up to the challenge against the more advanced Gundam EX and RGM-79 GM and were able to hold off EFF's attacks and save the centre and its staff from total annihilation. Solari's Zaku lost its right arm as the result of the fierce duel against the Gundam EX but it was fully repaired under the order of the Maj. Gen. Yuri Kellerne.[3] After Solari & co.'s failed mission to steal the GMs at the EFF's Olt military base, Solari's Zaku II was stowed onto a Samson trailer as part of Maj. Rolph Ronet's convoy heading towards the Odessa space port to board the HLVs back to Space.[4] In order to give her comrades a chance to escape, Solari chose to stay behind with her Zaku II and fought alongside with the Midnighters Squadron's Gouf Customs to ward off Federation's Assault Guntanks and GMs from bombarding the HLV launch sites. As Gundam EX appeared, Solari fought with the white mobile suit one last time with the Zaku sustained serious damage but she survived. After the One Year War, Solari joined the Zeon Remnants in Africa with her Zaku II fully repaired and was given a new camouflage coloring scheme, with the Red Wolves' emblem painted on its shoulder.[4]
