Its design highly resembles that of the [[MS-14 Gelgoog|Gelgoog]] (one of the few differences would be that it uses a Heat Sword rather than a Twin Beam Sword). It is also known as the ''Gelgoog Early Prototype''.

The MS-06R-3S High Mobility Type Zaku is a prototype mobile suit developed from the MS-06R-2 Zaku II High Mobility Type. It first appeared as a part of the Missing Mobile Suit Variations line (M-MSV).

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The MS-06R-3S High Mobility Type Zaku was a high performance MS based on the MS-06R-2 Zaku II High Mobility Type and developed to compete with the mobility of the Federation's RX-78-2 Gundam. It was developed in a short period of time by using a lot of parts for the Gelgoog. Significant increase in generator output enabled the first Zeon army beam rifle and beam saber to be supplied with energy in time for trial production(however this machine was equipped with a heat sword instead of a beam saber).

Armaments

  • 50mm Vulcan Gun
Mounted in the head, these shell firing weapons have a high rate of fire but little power and can't damage the thick armor of a mobile suit. However, they can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors and are ideal for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles, attack vehicles, etc.
  • Heat Sword
Stored on the backpack when not in use, this weapon uses thermal energy to superheat its blade to melt through the armor of an enemy machine.
  • Beam Rifle
The High Mobility Type Zaku was once of the rare Zeon MS armed with a beam rifle at this stage of the war. The particle beam fired from a beam rifle can penetrate almost any armor not treated with specific counter-measures.

History

The High Mobility Type Zaku was originally one of only four MS-06R-2 Zaku II High Mobility Type units produced. One of these units is modified into the MS-06R-3S High Mobility Type Zaku. It is considered the missing link between the Zaku and the Gelgoog. It is also known as the Gelgoog Early Prototype.
