The MS-06L Zaku II Sniper Type (MS-06L ザクⅡ 狙撃型?) is a mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A customized MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type for the personal use of Noisy Fairy Squadron member Helena Hegel. The Recon Zaku it was converted from was an earlier development model, still based on the MS-06C Zaku II, so additional dust-proofing measures had to be undertaken for use on Earth, and all of the additional optical cameras were removed, deemed unnecessary for a sniping role.
Armaments[]
- Sniper Rifle
- A long range ballistic sniper rifle created for the Zaku II. It has a folding bipod on the front, under the barrel, providing a simple option to steady the weapon while aiming. The rifle is select-fire, capable of firing a single-shot or a three-round burst.
- Cracker Grenade
- Cracker grenades are explosive weapons, designed to be thrown by the mobile suit and detonate after a set amount of time. The "cracker" then breaks into several smaller munitions over a wide area. A chaff variant of grenade used by the Zaku II Sniper Type can temporarily disrupt the radar of enemy mobile suits.
- A simplified, disposable rocket launcher. As the warhead is not equipped with a guidance device, it is extremely hard to use the Sturm Faust to hit a moving target accurately. However, it is still a highly destructive portable weapon. One can be stored on the waist armor.
- Camera Gun
- Developed for the MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type, it is essentially a compact, one-handed camcorder.
- Shoulder Shield
- A large composite armored shield which, opposite the standard Zaku II, is mounted on the Zaku II Sniper Type's left shoulder. Because of this, when the Zaku II Sniper Type is in an aiming stance, the face of the shield provides more coverage.
History[]
The MS-06L Zaku II Sniper Type was Helena Hegel's favored machine, and with it she achieved an excellent record as a sniper on the North American front during the One Year War, but as the war situation began to turn, and the Earth Federation Forces went on the offensive in North America, the situation deteriorated to an unfavorable one for sniping alone, and Helena was reassigned to pilot an MS-08TX Efreet.
