The MS-06-SSP Police Zaku is a law enforcement mobile suit derived from the MS-06 Zaku. It appears in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Police Zaku is an MS-06 Zaku that has been modified for use by the law enforcement agencies of Izuma in Side 6. Its modifications include the addition of revolving sirens on its shoulders, a smaller version of the right shoulder shield for better maneuverability in tight spaces, and the removal of the left shoulder spikes. It is able to use all of the military Zaku's standard armaments including its 120mm machine gun and heat hawk, along with a new short baton as a less-lethal option. For additional defense, the Police Zaku carries a small rectangular shield on its left arm, which also houses the baton.
Armaments[]
- Shoulder Shield
- A large composite armored shield on the Zaku's right shoulder. The Police Zaku's shoulder shield is only half the size of the standard military version.
- 120mm Zaku Machine Gun
- A standard firearm for Zaku type MS. It has a large drum magazine located at the top, and features a scope and foregrip to enable highly accurate shooting. It can switch modes between single-fire and automatic fire. Although useless against Luna Titanium Alloy, it can still destroy weaker armor material with multiple shots.
- Heat Hawk
- An axe-shaped close combat weapon, it uses a super-heated blade to cut through the armor of enemy MS or vehicles. The thermal energy is generated by the power output of the Zaku's thermonuclear reactor and relayed through the MS' hands.
- Electric Baton
- A weapon with a telescoping length rod used by the Police Zaku as a melee weapon, intended to incapacitate enemy mobile suits by using electric shocks.
- Sasumata
- This long polearm weapon uses two Electric Batons attached to its head, allowing for additional reach when attempting to stun particularly dangerous targets for capture.
- Shield
- A rectangular shield attached to the Police Zaku's left arm, which also acts as a storage space for the Baton.
History[]
After the Principality of Zeon won the One Year War, the MS-06 Zaku was sold by Zeon to several colonies as a gesture of good will. However, the sovereign colonies of Side 6, worried about the growing arrogance of Zeon, would reorganize their coast guard into the new "Armored Riot Police". To facilitate this, Side 6 would modify several of their Zakus into Police variants, officially intended to maintain public order and strengthen Side 6's defensive capabilities.
In UC 0085, a handful of Police Zakus would be deployed to try and arrest the GMS-α Red Gundam for vandalization, but would prove no match for the advanced mobile suit and were quickly defeated.
