The Psycho Gundam Mk-III is a gigantic mobile suit from the Gundam: The Battle Master video game series. In Gundam: The Battle Master serves as the final boss, but is featured also in Gundam: The Battle Master 2 as an enemy of Gloria Chanvalley.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

Very little is known about the Psycho Gundam Mk-III. It is unclear if like its predecessors has its cockpit located in the head or if it has a transformation mechanism, however is able to fly in the atmosphere through a Minovsky Craft System and probably has a Psycommu system. Its armament include multiple mega particle guns on the shoulders, legs and chest, and large beam sabers on both arms.[1]

Armaments[]

  • Scattering Mega Particle Beam Gun
Like the previous models of Psycho Gundam, the Psycho Gundam Mk-III mounts multiple scattering mega particle guns; three are mounted in the abdomen and a fourth is mounted in the waist.
  • Pulse Beam Gun
Mounted on articulated sub-arms and located on the clavicles, these beam guns have a higher rate of fire than most other beam weapons.
  • 3-barrel Beam Gun
The three-barreled beam guns mounted on each leg fire in sequence from bottom to top.
  • Beam Gun
Like the previous versions of Psycho Gundam, the Psycho Gundam Mk-III has one beam gun in each finger. Unique to this model are three additional beam guns per shoulder for a total of 16. These weapons went unused in all appearances until SD Gundam G Generation Eternal.
  • Beam Saber
Each forearm can emit a large beam blade. Unlike the version mounted on the MRX-010 Psycho Gundam Mk-II, the hands do not have to hinge down at the wrists for the beam blades to be used.

History[]

The Psycho Gundam Mk-III was secretly developed by the Nomad Council Military and piloted by Maria Nichols, a test subject for the extrasensory virus, who stolen the mobile weapon during a test.

Gloria Chanvalley encounters the Psycho Gundam Mk-III, piloted by Maria Nichols to block her way to Pixie. Despite its overwhelming firepower, Gloria managed to beat it single-handedly while killing her in battle.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • In Gundam Battle Assault, it is piloted by Valder Farkill and in the following game, Gundam Battle Assault 2, Ulube Ishikawa pilots it.
  • In Gundam Battle Assault 2, Psycho Gundam Mk-III is one of the only two large units that can block, the other being the JDG-00X Devil Gundam.
  • Its model number, MRX-012, was only stated in the 2009 edition of MS Encyclopedia. However, the 2013 edition no longer mentions it.
  • Psycho Gundam Mk-III makes its return in SD Gundam G Generation Genesis 15 years after its last appearance in G Generation F.I.F.
    • When using its Large Beam Saber in this game, the slightly jerky animation after making contact is a callback to its multi-hit property in Gundam Battle Assault.
  • In SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, the Psycho Gundam Mk-III is an Ultimate Development unit obtained by completing the Neo Zeon portion of the Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ development chart. Like other Ultimate Development units, it has no Limit Break level and starts at SSR rarity, and acquiring it unlocks an Ultimate Development chart which allows it to be upgraded to UR rarity with sufficient materials. It is classified as a Durability type in this game.
    • When using its Blast Upper attack in this game, the slightly jerky animation after the second punch makes contact is a callback to its muli-hit property in the Battle Master series.
  • Since the Battle Master series takes place in an original setting, the Psycho Gundam Mk-III's canoncity in the Universal Century timeline is unclear. Though the designation of MRX-013-3 Psycho Gundam Mk-IV G-Doors seems to hint at its existence.
  • Although it appears to be equipped with head vulcan guns, the weapons are never used in any games.
