The MRX-002 Newtype Use Prototype Gundam is a prototype mobile suit from the MSV90 design series featured in the Comic BonBon March 1990 issue. It was illustrated by Tatsuya Tomosugi.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

A prototype unit developed from the RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1 and equipped with Zeon's Psycommu System, its main armaments consists of ten wire-guided bits. To offset the extra weight these weapons put on the mobile suit, it was fitted with several vernier thrusters on various points on the frame. The backpack can also be detached to function independently as a fighter aircraft.

Armaments[]

  • Wire-guided Bit
The Newtype Use Prototype Gundam has ten wire-guided bits mounted all over its body. The aforementioned bits are mounted onto the forearms, shoulders, legs, and backpack. The Newtype Use Prototype Gundam's wire-guided bits are an ideal armament for use against fast conventional projectiles and enemy deterrence.

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • Psycommu System
The Psycommu System found in the Newtype Use Prototype Gundam allows a pilot to mentally control the aforementioned bits via brainwave alterations. This, in return, allows both standard pilots and Newtypes to control the bits, but more ideally for Newtypes due to their ability to be able to handle the brainwave alterations better.

History[]

The Newtype Use Prototype Gundam was designed but never manufactured. The concept of a large mobile weapon later returned in the form of the MRX-009 Psycho Gundam.
