The MDX-0003 Gundam Schwarzette (ガンダム・シュバルゼッテ?) is a mobile suit introduced in the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury anime. It is piloted by Lauda Neill.
Technology and Combat Characteristics[]
Jeturk Heavy Machinery developed Schwarzette as a successor to 5th generation demonstrator, the MD-0064 Darilbalde. It was designed for greater flexibility, adaptability, and mobility using AI controls enhanced even further from the Darilbalde. However, due to technical setbacks surrounding its piloting system, development of the entire line was suspended for a long time. Introduction of the GUND Format provided to Jeturk Heavy Machinery has set development back on track. The long-sidelined Scharzette was reborn as a GUND-ARM─in other words, a Gundam.[1] [2]
Armaments[]
- Guardian
- Schwarzette's multi-purpose attack-and-defensive platform, based on the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial's "Escutcheon" GUND-BITs[1]. Like the Escutcheon, the Guardian is composed of a next-generation swarm remote-controlled weapon system known as "GUND-BIT", that uses GUND FORMAT to organically links humans and machines[2]. There are 6 Bit Staves in total: 4 for attack, and 2 for defense. This combination greatly enhances functionality.[2]
- Bit Stave
- Each Bit Stave can be detached to be operated as a remote-controlled weapon in the "Guardian Draw" mode, or as a scabbard in the "Guardian Sheath" mode[2].
- Beam Gatling
- Fired in Guardian Sheath Mode from the beam cannons located at the end of each of the 4 offensive Bit Staves[2]. A built-in grip is deployed when firing.
- Arm Launcher
- The forearms are equipped with a revolver-style launcher that fires explosive cluster munitions.
Attacks[]
- Omni-Azimuth Laser
- An omnidirectional attack fired from all of the Schwarzette's Bit Staves.
Modes[]
- Guardian Sheath
- In the Guardian's default configuration, the Bit Staves are combined around the Beam Blade, forming a large scabbard[2]. In this mode, the Beam Gatling, which is comprised of the gunports at the end of each of the 4 offensive Bit Staves, can be used[2]. In addition, the Schwarzette can use the Shield function to deploy the electromagnetic barriers of the defensive Bit Staves, and use the "Omni-Azimuth Laser", an omnidirectional attack fired from all Bit Staves[2].
- Guardian Draw
- In this mode, the Bit Staves are deployed as a remote-controlled weapon system[2]. The close-range Beam Blade can also be used while in this mode[2].
- Guardian Marionette
- This mode is analogous to the Aerial's Bit on Form, where Bit Staves are connected to the hardpoints throughout the Schwarzette[2]. This mode replenishes electric power and propellant to the Bit Staves, and also improves the mobility and offensive performance of the Schwarzette[2].
History[]
Prior to the creation of GUND-ARM, Inc., Vim Jeturk began development of a Gundam-type mobile suit in collaboration with Shin Sei Development Corporation, insisting that both companies go into the drone business together[3].
After Guel Jeturk became the new CEO of Jeturk Heavy Machinery, the incomplete Schwarzette was revealed to him and Miorine Rembran by Prospera Mercury, much to the former's dismay. Prospera suggested using the Schwarzette as a joint development between Jeturk Heavy Machinery and GUND-ARM, Inc. to win support from members of the Benerit Group, to which Miorine declined[3].
Its upgraded Gundam form was later transferred to Asticassia's Jeturk House, where its presence was questioned by Lauda Neill who was told that the Schwarzette was a joint venture between their company and GUND-ARM, Inc.[4]
Lauda later piloted the Schwarzette in an attempt to kill Miorine, who he blamed for his family's recent misfortunes[5]. The Shell Unit was destroyed during combat against Guel's Dilanza[6].
The Schwarzette, alongside the FP/A-77 Gundam Pharact, was later controlled by Suletta Mercury through the X-EX01 Gundam Calibarn to create a data storm powerful enough to remotely shut down the Space Assembly League's Interplanetary Laser Transmission System. The resulting data storm would ultimately disintegrate Quiet Zero and all nearby machines using the GUND FORMAT, including the Schwarzette, into particles.[7].
