The MD-0064 Darilbalde (ダリルバルデ Darirubarude?) is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury. It is piloted by Guel Jeturk.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

Developed as a proof-of-concept for Jeturk Heavy Machinery's 5th generation of mobile suits, the MD-0064 Darilbalde was produced prioritizing adaptation of next-gen military drone technology to a mobile suit, featuring Unmanned Drone Technology.[1] When adapting a drone equipped with Decision Making Extension AI capable of self-learning and autonomous operation to a humanoid mobile suit, the team attempted to add fundamental kinesthetic integration to the unit.[1] The Darilbalde does not feature the revolutionary technology of the GUND FORMAT in its design.[1] However, unlike the Gundams that utilize "cursed" technology, this unit prides itself as a legitimate evolution of the mobile suit as a platform.[1]

Armaments[]

  • Beam Vulcan
Firearms housed in the head for diversionary tactics.[1] The Darilbalde's Beam Vulcans are the same as those mounted to the Dilanza's chest.[1]
  • Beam Javelin
Close range beam weapons, one in the shape of an anchor and one in the shape of a claw, that can be connected at the shaft.[1] Power is supplied to these twin, high energy output beam weapons via a direct coupling through the unit's arms, giving the Darilbalde formidable slashing capabilities.[1]
  • Beam Anchor
The larger of the two halves of the Beam Javelin, usually wielded in the right hand.
  • Beam Kunai
The smaller of the two halves of the Beam Javelin, usually wielded in the left hand.
  • Iśvara A Type
A general term applied to the Darilbalde's attack drones.[1] The unit's A Type configuration, featuring two arm units with manipulators, includes a Beam Anchor and a Beam Kunai.[1]
  • Iśvara B Type
While its B Type loadout includes two beam sabers installed directly into forearms housed on the unit's back.[1] This gives the Darilbalde four beam blades to attack enemies.[1]
  • Beam Saber
Close range weaponry housed within the B Type Iśvara, but can also be utilized as Beam Cannons in drone mode.[1] Attaching them to the upper arms of the unit can increase the output of its beam sabers.[1]
  • Ambikā
Protective drones in the shape of massive shields.[1] Ambiká units are attached to the unit's shoulders and are capable of autonomous defensive operations thanks to the Darilbalde's Decision Making Extension AI.[1]
  • Shackle Claw
Wired weaponry that can be used to restrain enemy units.[1] In addition to grabbing onto other mobile suits, the Shackle Claws can inflict damage to electronic equipment and even the pilot of the unit via electric shock.[1]
  • Knee Crusher[1]
The knee plates of the machine house four pellet mine launchers each for added utility.
  • Pellet Mine
Micro mines that are shot out from the unit's Knee Crusher.[1] These Pellet Mines are able to cover a wide area with their barrage.[1]
  • Composite Arms
A new portable weapon developed to be used by Darilbalde. It is composed of a gunblade and a beam shot rifle, both of which can also be used separately.[2]
  • Gunblade
A beam katana with a small beam gun at the guard for close combat.[2]
  • Beam Shot Rifle
A portable firearm with two muzzles that can fire regular beams and beam pellets.[2]
  • Gussa Iśvara
The improved version of the Iśvara, an attack drone. In addition to attacking with its beam cannon and beam saber, its built-in restraint wires can be used to capture the target and then explode.[2]
  • Daya Ambikā
The improved version of the Ambikā, a protective drone in the shape of a massive shield. In addition to its enhanced defense capabilities, the capacity of its built-in thrusters has been expanded to further emphasize its aspect as a propulsion device.[2]

Equipment[]

  • Shell Unit
Equipped on the chest, thighs, shoulders and Ambika.
  • Decision Making Extension AI
This AI gave the Darilbalde the ability to operate and enter combat without the need of a pilot, making decisions on its own during battle, although its artificial intelligence seemed to lack some responsiveness, suggesting it may still have been on testing stages when it was used. The AI also possessed limited learning capabilities, having demonstrated combat behaviours and maneuvers learnt from previous battles.

History[]

The Darilbalde was first seen being tested in space. It easily evaded beam fire from two MD-0031 Dilanza and sliced them apart using its Ishvara bits, destroying them. Later, Vim Jeturk had his son Guel Jeturk pilot this mobile suit during his second duel against Suletta Mercury. Initially, the Darilbalde and its Decision Making AI demonstrated high performance in the battle against the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial, in part due to Aerial's beam weapons being weakened by the fire suppression system. However, after the fire suppression system was deactivated by Miorine Rembran, the Darilbalde struggled against the Aerial's GUND-BITs.

The Darilbalde's AI proved inefficient against the GUND-BITs, being fooled into taking a direct hit by a simple feint. Angered, Guel destroyed the AI's console panel and assumed full control. He briefly overwhelmed the Aerial until it managed to defeat the Darilbalde by knocking its antenna horn off and winning the duel. The damaged Darilbalde was later seen taken away by the Jeturk company.

The Darilbalde, now upgraded with new weapons, made its appearance again in a duel against XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial Rebuild, after Guel re-enrolled the academy and started to get Jeturk Heavy Machinery under control. The Darilbalde struggled against the upgraded Gundam due to Guel's trauma. Despite Guel gaining the upper hand, the Aerial Rebuild reached Permet Score 8 and took control of the Darilbalde's Iśvaras, cutting off an arm and a leg. However, before the Aerial Beuild could finish the battle, it was shut down by Miorine and Guel used the opportunity to slice off the Aerial Rebuild's blade antenna, winning the duel.

He next used the Darilbalde to confront Shaddiq Zenelli and his team during their approach back to Astacassia. While the Dominicus forces engaged the Grassley team, Guel and Shaddiq had a fierce confrontation, with the latter's mobile suit's limiters having been removed, causing the Darilbalde to struggle against the fully powered CFK-029 Michaelis. Despite this drawback, Guel managed to defeat Shaddiq and his backup Sabina Fardin and disable both their mobile suits just as the Darilbalde suffered critical damage. Before the machine exploded, Guel ejected from the suit's cockpit and was caught by an approaching MSJ-OP122 Demi Garrison.
