The MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame "Powered Red" is a Mobile Suit in the manga Gundam SEED Astray R and in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray R photonovel.
Technology & Combat Characteristics
After the Power Loader was destroyed by ZAFT's ZGMF-X11A Regenerate, Lowe received a set of powerful new arms from Jean Carry. With them on, the Red Frame is called "Powered Red" and has sufficient strength to swing the 150 meter Gerbera Straight on its own as well as deliver a powerful punch that Lowe named 'Red Flame' that is capable of damaging a MS's internal components and/or send it flying.
These arms use new power cylinders created by Jean and are connected to the shoulder joints as well as to the Red Frame's external connector and backpack via a back joint, resulting in the removal of the beam sabers. Eventually, Jean successfully miniaturize the power cylinders and they are integrated into the Red Frame's normal arms, enhancing the power of its sword/katana slashes. Although the optional arms are now obsolete, they are still stored aboard the ReHOME and Lowe later upgraded them to be 3x stronger in preparation for the "Festival of Red" event in South America. During the event, Powered Red is also equipped with 2 Caletvwlchs instead of the "Gerbera Straight" Katana.
Armaments
- CIWS
- A pair of head-mounted "Igelstellung" 75mm multi-barrel CIWS for destroying incoming missiles or small, weakly armored units.
- "Gerbera Straight" Katana
- A mobile suit-sized katana that is extremely sharp, and does not rely on the kinetic energy of a high-speed swing to cut. Unlike the normal Red Frame, Powered Red mounts the "Gerbera Straight" katana behind the left shoulder.
- 150 meter 'Gerbera Straight' katana
- A huge, 150 meters long version of "Gerbera Straight" katana forged from a large piece of rare metal that Lowe's gang found on earth. Due to its sheer weight, the standard Red Frame cannot weld it effectively.

Special Equipment
- External connector
- A connector for attaching additional equipment to the back of the suit. It is similar in function to the hardpoint on the back of the Strike Gundam. The connector is exposed when the backpack is lowered to the waist.
History
After the Power Loader was destroyed, the Red Frame was fitted with new arms powered by high-output power cylinders supplied by Jean Carry. The Powered Red played a key part in the battle to defeat Ash Gray and the ZGMF-X11A Regenerate. Specifically the Powered Red, alongside the MBF-P03secondL Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L, had the job of battling the Regenerate once its home base was discovered. Working together the two Astrays were able to defeat the powerful prototype Gundam as their allies dealt with Genesis Alpha. After this battle, Lowe reverts the Red Frame back into its normal form and the arms are left in ReHOME's storage room as Jean developed smaller but just as powerful power cylinders that are integrated into Red Frame's normal arms.
Prior to the "Festival of Red", which is one of the events in the South America's "Civilian MS Exhibition", Lowe took out the obsolete arms and increased its power to 3 times the original before fitting it onto the Red Frame together with 2 Caletvwlchs. The event was later disrupted by MWF-JGP99G Gundam Astray Violence Geist and Lowe used the Powered Red to defeat it.
Notes & Trivia
- Although the lineart shows that "Powered Red" is equipped with the normal size "Gerbera Straight" Katana, it never use it in its story appearances so far. It has also never fired any range weapon in the story.
- The "Powered Red" is the ultimate/final form of Astray Red Frame in Super Robot Wars W. Unlike the original Astray Red Frame, the Astray Powered Red Frame was able to fly without any particular parts or swing the giant 150 meter 'Gerbera Straight' katana in the game. It is also able to perform a combination attack with its sister unit, the Astray Blue Frame Second L.
