MAN-08S Helios is a mobile armor appearing in Advance of Zeta Re-Boot: Gundam Inle.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The MAN-08S Helios is a Newtype-exclusive mobile armor developed by Zeon Mars, a faction of Zeon Remnants based on Mars, as the successor to the MAN-08 Elmeth. Its development was led by former researchers from the Flanagan Institute.[1] [2]
The machine consists of a central fuselage and two binders. The cockpit, mono-eye sensor, mega particle cannon, psycommu system, and its foldable transmitting/receiving antenna are housed in the central fuselage, while a Bit container is located at the rear. The binders are equipped with a diffusion mega particle cannon, missiles, thrusters, and I-field generators, allowing for independent movement, which enhances mobility, maneuverability, and defensive capabilities. The Bits used are the same type as those on the Elmeth, and the light green paint scheme reflects its predecessor’s design.[1] [2]
In cruising mode, the Helios closely resembles the Elmeth. In high-speed melee mode, the binders deploy like wings, functioning as AMBAC actuators to improve agility. Additionally, claw arms stored inside the binders can be deployed, each tipped with a Heat Nata, similar to those on the MA-04X Zakrello, making the Helios effective in hit-and-run tactics, quickly closing in on enemies and cutting them apart. This design choice was influenced by lessons learned from the Elmeth’s destruction at the hands of the RX-78-2 Gundam’s melee attack. Drawing inspiration from the Zakrello and MA-05 Bigro, the Helios shares its design lineage with the AMA-01S Byg-Zamuru.[1] [2]
Furthermore, the front half of the fuselage lifts up to form the nose, while a movable neck joint allows the lower mega particle cannon to fire in any direction, granting it greater firing flexibility in battle.[1]
The cockpit and the Psycommu System is located in the fuselage. Similar to the Elmeth, the Helios has a Psycommu transmission and receiving antenna, nicknamed “Tangled Hat." This antenna is retractable, and stored in the main body when not in use.

History[]
During the One Year War, the Zeon army had a military division devoted to Newtype Weapons development. The MAN-08 Elmeth was an all range attack Mobile Armor which utilized a Psycommu Type Remote Attack Terminal Bit system, controlled by waves emitted from a Newtype. It was a mobile armor that shared a similar fate as the mobile armor Big Zam at the Battle of Solomon. The Elmeth was lost at this battle towards the end of the One Year War, but this did not stifle efforts to continue with the research that came from its development.
Development of a successor machine to the Elmeth was started, and the technology was further advanced, primarily thanks to the staff members of the original Flanagan Institute. The MAN-08s Helios is the result of this research and development, by order of the Zeon Remnants Xionerism Party.
A variant of the MAN-08S Helios would become retrofitted for underwater combat conditions, and remodeled into the MAN-08S-M Helios Mariner. The Helios Mariner was used as part of the Rezeon Retaliation Operation.
