The MAN-03 Braw Bro (MAN-03 ブラウ・ブロ Burau Buro?) is a mobile armor appearing in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The Braw Bro is a mobile armor developed for Newtype use by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. Instead of piloting the mobile armor itself, the beak-like front of the Braw Bro deploys a docking arm to connect with a mobile suit piloted by a Newtype. It is equipped with the Psycommu system, responsible for the control of the Braw Bro’s weapons, which are four wire-guided two barrel mega particle guns on its spars.

For defensive purposes, it is equipped with an I-field. It also features a mono-eye sensor on its top spar.

Armaments[]

  • Wired 2-barrel Mega Particle Gun
The Braw Bro is equipped with four wire-guided two barrel mega particle guns which are connected to the machine via lengths of cable and are freely controlled by the pilot thanks to the Psycommu system.
  • Missiles
The Braw Bro can launch various missiles from underside compartments.

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • Psycommu System
An interface designed for Newtypes, which allows for use of remote weapons and mobile weapons to be operated by thought alone.
  • I-Field Generator
The I-Field is a Minovsky particle barrier formed around the Braw Bro, capable of deflecting beam attacks. However, this barrier has no effect against solid objects like missiles and projectiles.

History[]

The Braw Bro was taken to Luna II by the Earth Federation Forces for research purposes, but because it was exclusively designed for Newtypes, it couldn’t be activated and lay dormant in the asteroid’s base hangar. Daryl Lorenz, sensing a presence calling out to him from Luna II thanks to his newly-awakened Newtype abilities, infiltrates the base in the Perfect Gundam. The Braw Bro activates upon his arrival, connecting with the Perfect Gundam and tears through Luna II’s fleet as Daryl escapes.

Later during Operation Maitreya, Levan Fuu’s plan to seize the Solar Ray from Side 3 in order to destroy Anaheim Electronics, the Braw Bro and the Perfect Gundam engaged in a fierce battle across Konpei Island against the MSN-02 Perfect Zeong (Thunderbolt Ver.) piloted by Io Fleming and the artificially enhanced Newtype Lily Shellina. Their fight was interrupted by a telepathic contact between Daryl and Lily facilitated by two mysterious figures, one of which warned the pilots of Karla Mitchum’s intentions to use the Solar Ray to target the 150 million civilians of the Republic of Zeon.

When the Solar Ray was fired as a plan from the Federation while they still had control of the launch room in an attempt to take out the forces of the South Seas Alliance, the Braw Bro was damaged in the process while shielding the Perfect Gundam. In the aftermath, Daryl discovered the source of the psychic contact hidden within the Braw Bro’s mono-eye sensor: a Newtype clone like Levan Fuu whose head was joined to the Braw Bro, which acted as a connector between the pilot and the machine. The damaged Braw Bro was recovered by Alliance ships as Daryl returned to battle in the Perfect Gundam.
