Luna Base is a military facility introduced in the TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam AGE.
Overview[]
An Earth Federation Forces' base located on the Moon. The base fell into the hands of the Vagans after the turnover of its commander Aaron Simmons, and it served as the rear base of Vagan's Earth Occupation Forces in A.G. 164. In the novelization, there are numerous lunar bases, the largest of which is called "Luna Base". The construction of military facilities on the Moon is not very suitable for building a space base because it consumes energy to leave the gravitational sphere, just like on the Earth, and the base was initially neglected by Vagan for lunar security reasons. However, the reality is that EXA-DB is said to be a fragmented place, and within Luna Base are the ruins of a lunar city destroyed in the Colony Nation War. It has been functioning as a secret Vagan factory for quite some time, with Geera Zoi and Arabel Zoi coming and going.
History[]
After defeating the Vagan forces at Rostroulan, the Earth Federation eventually launched an assault to recapture the base. The Bisidian space pirates led by "Captain Ash" aided the Federation forces in an attempt to restore the balance between the two sides. The Federation forces initially had limited success in breaking through the Vagan defense lines. Due to this stalemate, Flit Asuno advised Frederick Algreus to use the Plasma Diver Missile, which would have almost completely destroyed the base.[1][2]
The Earth Federation achieved victory after Seric Abis' team infiltrated the base, with the aid of the Diva's Photon Blaster Cannon. Inside the base, Seric warned the Vagan forces in the base's command center of the missile. This resulted in them ceasing combat activities and retreating. The Vagan forces still left within the base were captured and the Federation reclaimed the base.[3]
This battle is notable for being the first combat deployment of the AGE-FX Gundam AGE-FX piloted by Kio Asuno. The Gundam AGE-FX is a powerful X-Rounder MS which played a key role in this battle and throughout the rest of the conflict with Vagan.
