Why do you think that Coordinators should not exist? That we are monsters with whom you can never reach an understanding? The real question is, "Who started saying those things in the first place?"

Gilbert Durandal scrutinizing the anti-Coordinator propaganda of Logos on broadcast.[1]

Logos is a secretive military-industrial complex introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

Overview[]

Logos is a secret society made up of a handful of powerful industrialists and defense contractors who see war as a business and manipulate world events to profit from the misery it creates. Logos uses agents within Blue Cosmos and Phantom Pain to enact their plans while the leadership works from behind the scenes to create conflict. While the group had no official leader, Lord Djibril took up the role with the other members following his lead.

History[]

Logos shared a working relationship with Blue Cosmos throughout most of each group's existence, with Logos providing financial support for Blue Cosmos' acts of terrorism against Coordinators. Following the death of Muruta Azrael at the end of the First Alliance-PLANT War, Lord Djibril became Blue Cosmos’ new leader, effectively putting the organization directly under Logos’ control. During the Second Alliance-PLANT War, PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Durandal gave a speech revealing the organization's existence to the world. This began a campaign to destroy Logos and Blue Cosmos by ZAFT, civilian resistance, and even Earth Alliance members.

Many people on Earth started to attack the homes of Logos members, resulting in many of them being either murdered or forced to flee. The surviving Logos members made their unsuccessful last stand against a combined ZAFT and renegade anti-Logos Earth Alliance forces during Operation Ragnarök at Heaven's Base, their headquarters in Iceland.[2] After the battle which saw the majority of Logos members captured, Lord Djibril (the last known remaining member) fled to the Orb Union[3] and afterward to the Daedalus lunar base[4] to rendezvous with Blue Cosmos loyalist forces. From there, Djibril attacked the PLANTs with the superweapon Requiem, intent on wiping out all Coordinators.[4] However, ZAFT forces counterattacked, with mobile suits from the LHM-BB01 Minerva forcing Djibril to flee on the Girty Lue.[5] But before he could escape the ship was shot down by Rey Za Burrel in the ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam, which also killed Djibril and thus the last remaining Logos member, bringing an end to the organization.[5]

According to the novelization, because of the wide-reaching influence of Logos, its destruction and the ensuing manhunt for Logos members caused a massive economic crisis and led to worldwide chaos and anarchy.
