- Shiro Kyoda (京田四郎, Kyōda Shirō) (Voice - Rika Matsumoto)
Shiro Kyoda is the protagonist of the series. He lives in Tamiya City and is a student of the Bandai elementary school. He is the classic shonen protagonist with an exuberant and passionate behavior, as well as being characterized as a real otaku, willing to do anything to grab the last gunpla on the market and customize it according to its personal tastes. He began to take an interest in Plamo Simulation thanks to the owner of the Craft-Man Model Shop, which he is a loyal customer, and in a short time, would be noticed among the most talented and skillful "modellers" in the country, who will not hesitate to challenge him and his gunpla at every opportunity. Shiro usually uses more or less customized Gundams as his favorite means. Among his most famous "creations" are the Perfect Gundam, the Musha Gundam and the Red Warrior.
- Futoshi Kurata
He is the owner of the modeling shop frequented by Shiro, The Craft-Man Model Shop,. Also, he is the father of Midori and supporter of Shiro.he wears an apron with the flag of the United Kingdom painted on it. Shiro refers to him as "Master". On the second floor of his shop, he has a "Plamo Simulation Machine" that allows Shiro to train for the various tournaments and clash with his rivals.
- Midori Kurata (倉田みどり, Kurata Midori)
She is the daughter of Futoshi and although she is able to build models and occasionally take to "battle simulation", her role is more like a support role, almost like a "mascot". she wears an apron with the flag of the United States painted on it. Her name is a tribute to the Midori, an old manufacturer of plamo.
- Ken Maruyama (丸山健, Maruyama Ken)
He is a classmate of Shiro, and is always portrayed in camouflage clothes. Ken lives in a Western-style house and belongs to a very wealthy family. He is also a very passionate modeller, which leads him to often find himself in conflict with his friend Shiro, a rivalry that will be rekindled when, having moved to the United States because of his father's work, he will meet Saki, who would plagiarize him. He will again prove to be Shiro's friend, however, at the end of the World Simulation tournament, where he will not hesitate to betray Saki, tired of his cruel behavior.
His name is a tribute to Marusan, the first toy company to produce plamo in Japan. Ken uses plamo from various series (especially Dougram) and in various scales for his fights. While it generally makes extensive use of Zeon media, including various Zaku, the Gelgoog and the Acguy, worthy of mention is also the use of a GM Cannon, a Federation mobile suit.
- Koichi Kida (木田晃一, Kida Koichi)
He is a classmate of Shiro and Ken Maruyama's right-hand, nicknamed Kibou (キー坊., Kībō) Initially, he too will be in a position of rivalry with the protagonist, but then find himself his friend after joining forces against modelers from other schools and shops. He is not a skilled fighter like Shiro and Ken, but his support often proves to be fundamental. He stops building gunpla and taking part in the Simulation Battles after being banned by his mother, in view of the school exams. Like Ken, Kouichi also makes use of various media from various series, but is generally associated with mobile armors and support vehicles.
- Tomita (富田, Tomita)
University graduate. He is a sportsman (boxer) who has skill of model making. He also works as a instructor at the Athletic Club. he has a great influence on Shiro as a modeler. He recommended Shiro to "put your soul in his own plastic model". Also in the sequel's "New Plamo Kyoshiro", he appeared as an advisor to the new protagonist.

- Hitto-Kun (飛人くん, Hitto Kun)
Hitto Ebara (江原飛人, Ebara Hitto) affectionately known as Hitto Kun, is the cousin of Shiro Kyoda. He is the protagonist of the comic series Hobby Boy Hitto-Kun, which was published by TV Magazine, a sister magazine of Comic Bom Bom and produced by Kodansha. Shiro Kyoda also appeared in this comic regularly. Hitto is immersed in the world of the Plamo Simulation thanks to Shiro. Hitto appears in an additional section after the end of Plamo-Kyoshiro in its last volume.
He is very young and does not have the ability to assemble plastic models, which is why he uses toys in his plamo battles. His favorite robot is the diecast RX-78 Gundam model released by Clover. He defeated Shiro's Prototype Gundam with his diecast Gundam. He also appears as fat teenager in the sequel series Shin Plamo-Kyoshiro. (reference here)
- Akira Yamane (山根アキラ, Yamane Akira)
Akira is the first recurrent antagonist to give Kyoshiro a hard time. He is the leader of the modeling club Plamo Teikoku Emperor, locateded on the Taiyo Model Shop. He is extremely competitive and he hates to lose, and his models are characterized by dark but realistic colors, along the lines of Okawara's "Real Type". Despite being a caustic rival of Shiro, he does not hesitate to join forces against the common threat of Saki. He has a predilection for Zeon models, and among his favorite vehicles are the Gouf, Hi-Zack and Zssa in custom colors.
- Muraoka (村岡, Muraoka)
Store Manager of the Taiyo Model Shop. Muraoka was a classmate of Kurata in college days and was a member of the College's Plamo Club. He also owns his own plastic simulation machine. He dislikes to lose and his personality is disgusting, Even Kurata may even complain to his attitude. he likes to provoke Shiro Calling him Gundam boy.
- The Nanbangzan Mountain (南郷快山, Nangō Kai Yama)
The giant of the Satsuma model Asociation who came to Tokyo to challenge Kyoshiro. He wears student clothes and speaks using the dialect of kagoshima.Ha has a Dog called Tamasaburo (タマサブロー) who also participates in the simulation with him. In the first fight against Shiro he fought with the help of his Dog.

A model maker specialized in in World War II models, particularly German tanks. He likes dress up as a Nazi general.
- The Kageyama Siblings (景山姉弟, Kageyama kyōdai)
- The Tenma Brothers (天満兄弟, Tenma Kyōdai)
The three-man team of the Tenma Brothers is composed of (from top to bottom in the photo) Taro Tenma, Kotaro Tenma, and Goda Tenma. They are descendants of a ninja family lineage. At first, they are rivals of Shiro but in the course of the series, they become allies getting to fight next to the against the faction of Saki Takeda in the wars of Sekigahara.
- The Ushiwaka Brothers (牛若兄弟, Ushi waka Kyōdai)
The three brothers who are representatives of Kyoto who defeated the Temma Brothers. From left to right on the photo: Benkei, Yoshimaru (is a boy despite the long hair) and Jing. The Ushikawa Brothers fought against Shiro in the World Simulation Tournament, but were defeated by the KyoShiro team.
The fat and big Benkei uses a MS-09R Rick Dom with a Big Basket Full of Weapons, because he likes to collect the weapons of the enemies he has destroyed, a reference to Musashibo Benkei. Yoshimaru has a uses a MS - 14B Gelgoog capable of separating into two halves, revaling a secret weapon, and Jing, uses a Heavy Metal G.Roon. Jing is an expert in electrical engineering, supplying electric current to the opponent to electrocute them, having had a generator as a weapon.

Kiyoshiro Anoyo (center on the photo) also Known as Anime Kiyoshiro (アニメの清四郎, Anime no Seishirō) is the member of the Anime Shop Zero model club. He broke up with the Kageyama Siblings. He appeared in the World Simulation Games along with his partners Heavy tsuruta (fat woman) and Tiger Sayama using a MS-09 Dom each. They faced and fought against Kyoshiro, Rom, and Gozu Iron. In this battle Shiro used the PF-78-3 Perfect Gundam 3 Red Warrior. for the very first time in history while Rom and Gozu Iron used the Gun Carrier. The Kyoshiro team destroyed Kiyoshiro and his partners.
Kiyoshiro's physical appearance is based on the Japanese musician and composer Kiyoshiro Imawano l from the musical grupo RC Succession.
- Miao (ミャオ, Myao)
Tea Times is a young musical group consisting of Miao (higher profile in the photo) Ur and Han. (Lower profile in the photo) Miao is the Leader of the group. Miao says he likes the hobby of plastic models and simulation, but it's a lie. Actually, he does not know how to build models. he uses the models built by his manager.
- Stream Base of Third Generation (三代目ストリームベース, Sandaime Sutorīmubēsu)
These three girls are the descendants of the Stream Based trio (see special guests below) their names are Misa Kawaguchi, Mari Oda and Catherine Takahashi and they appear in the Craft Man store. They do not really exist. These appeared in a dream that Shiro had when he wondered how the hobby of the plamo would be in 50 years (1982-2033). they fought against chiro in the simulation using models classic Bilbain, MS-06R High Mobility Type Zaku and Catherine: Scope Dog respectively.
- Mito Hiroemon (三戸広右衛門, Hiroemon Hitto)
Mito Hiroemon is the president of Aoi Model Company, the largest wholesale Model Store in Japan and the organizer of the World Simulation Tournament. He is known as the Old Man of Plamo. He moves around the country in a Van that he modified to turn it into a mobile store to sell plamo while teaching the wonderfulness of the plastic model to children in various places he visits. His likeness is based on the japanese drama character Mito Kōmon.
- Shigeto Iwao (茂合岩男, Shigeru gō Iwao)
Iwao is a monk-like model maker member of the Moai Clan who lives in Ise Suda Village, a traditional Japanese rural area dedicated to rice cultivation at Hakone. His mission is to protect the The Model Secret Scrolls (Onokinomaki), scrolls that contain ancient and powerfull model making technics. their models are built in wood, as dictated by Hakone's tradition. Iwao visited the Craftsman store and challenged Shiro to a duel. Iwao used his wooden Gundam, beating Shiro's Gundam Mark-II.
Later on, Shiro visits Iwao's house with Kazuzo Ozawa to get the rematch. This time, Shiro used his Musha Gundam against Iwao's Dragon model. Shiro cut the Dragon in half with the Musha Gundam's spear, but a bunch of Wooden Unbeatable Balls came out from the stomach of the Dragon model. The unbeatable balls of Iwao bounced at great speed destroying Shiro's Musha Gundam, but to the surprise of Iwao, inside the Musha Gundam there was an Unbeatable Iron Ball. The wooden Unbeatable Ball manned by Iwao grazed Shiro's metal ball at great speed, causing friction, making a spark that caused his Unbeatable Ball to catch on fire and burn, giving Shiro the victory.
In the end, Shiro receives one of the Kinomaki scrolls as a reward for his victory, but Kazuzo Ozawa steals the parchment, giving shiro a false empty parchment. Actually, whoever stole the parchment was Saky Takeda disguised as Kazuzo. Shiro and Iwao make friends and chase Saki to retrieve the scroll.
- Golden Horn and Silver Horn (金角 と 銀角, Kin Kaku to Gin Kaku)
Golden Horn and Silver Horn are two monks who train in the Kofu War Temple, the place were one of the Onokinomaki Scrolls is located. Saki Takeda steals this other scroll. The master monk of the temple sends this two monks (the best of the temple) to retrieve the scrolls. They become allies of Shiro in his feud with Saki. They use two models of the MSN-0100 Hyaku Shiki; The Golden Shiki and Silver Shiki
Trivia: Apparently, these two characters are based on two characters from the Chinese classic Journey to the West . In this story, the siblings are two demon king brothers, known as the Great King Kinkaku (金角大王, Kinkaku-daiō) and the Great King Ginkaku (銀角大王, Ginkaku-daiō), who live in the Lotus Cave (蓮華洞, Rengedō) on Mount Heichō (平頂山, Heichōzan).
- The Saki's Five (サッキーファイブ, Sakkīfaibu)
The Saki's Five is a team of model makers led by Saki Takeda: te main antagonist of the story. The five belong to the SF Plastic Study Group in the United States. The members are Yamanobe, Miyama, Okada, Nishiwaki and Kikuchi. Sakki invokes these five players when he has to fight against large groups or more than one opponent. Sometimes Sakki requests the support of one or all five depending on the situation
- Saki Takeda (サッキー竹田 Sakkī Takeda)
He is the main antagonist of the series and Shiro's Main Rival. He is a senior at the university where Kurata and Muraoka studied, and is a member of the plamo university club that Kurata and Muraoka belonged to. He is a brilliant model maker with dual American and Japanese nationalities and He won the american modeler award. Saki does not hesitate to destroy those close to him for his interests. He loves to humiliate his opponents and destroy their plamo, and his personality is arrogant and selfish. He has studied very advanced modeling techniques in the United States. He is a genius in electronics and he likes to use special effects. He uses innovative materials and special effects, on his models, experimenting as much as possible.
His name is a tribute to Saki Hijiri, a central figure in the edition of the mythical Japanese science fiction magazine Uchousen. The models created by Saki are extremely eccentric; the best example of this is the terrible Bloody Mary (nicknamed "Devil Gundam"), a grotesque alien hybrid hidden under the disguise of a mobile suit, able to spit latex from the hidden pharyngeal jaws in its mouth.
- The Main Computer (メーンコンピューター, Mēnkonpyūtā)
The main computer of the large hobby factory "Hobby-Topia" suddenly becomes rampant, challenging Shiro while the employees were taken hostage. The main computer is the last rival that Shiro has to face in the thirteenth round (and the very last) of the Tournament. To defeat this opponent, Shiro had to fight him hand-to-hand without using any mobile suit in the simulation. All the blows and damages that shiro sustained in the simulation battle fighting with the main computer were reproduced in real life in his body.
Fortunately, Shiro managed to defeat the main computer using the Plamo Spirit destroying it nd winning the battle of Hobby-Topia and therefore, the entire tournament.
Real life characters
- Stream Based (ストリームベース, Sutorīmubēsu)
Behind this pseudonym are hidden (from left to right in the image) Katsumi "Meijin" Kawaguchi (川口克己, Kawaguchi Katsumi,) Masahiro Oda (小田雅弘, Oda Masahiro) and Masaya Takahashi (高橋昌也, Takahashi Masaya) three sacred monsters of the 80s who have inextricably linked their name to Gundam. these three men (young men at the time) helped to popularize the hobby of plastic models in Japan at the beginning of the decade of the 80s.
"Stream Base" was the name of their modeling group at the time of the university. In the Manga, They act as instructors and guides Shiro. They apeared for the first time in volume 4, when the protagonist will have to face the Zeon Shonen-Tai Group.
- Kazuzo Ozawa (小澤勝三, Ozawa Katsuzo)
Known as "the bearded guy of plamo", he was famous for his tutorials on the SF Plamo Magazine, designed by Koichi Tokita, in which he is portrayed in a caricatured version; appears in the same guise as a mascot in volume 4 of the manga, providing random explanations to readers on how to build models.
He is formally introduced in volume 8 as Shiro's companion to Hakone against Iwao Moai to turn out to be an enemy, but it will be revealed that in reality is Saki in disguise, driven by the desire to seize the secret techniques of the Moai clan for himself. The "real" Ozawa will eventually appear in Volume 10 as an observer of the final battle between the Shiro and Saki factions in the Sekigahara Wars. Since the 2000s, he almost retired as a model magazine writer and since then he worked as a CG illustrator with box art in the early master grade series, but he died on June 11th, 2007 due to stomach cancer.
- Hitoshi Hayami (速水仁司, Hayami Hitoshi)
The legendary model and sculptor of the Kaiyodo Hobby Company, author of kits and figures dedicated to super robots and dinosaurs. A clay-using specialist, Hayami appears in volume 9, providing assistance to Shiro to help him create a new material with which to guarantee sufficient resistance against the atacks of the Black Mountain team.
- Yoshimitsu Otsu (大津好満, Otsu Yoshimitsu)
Shiro meets this other legend of the sci-fi modeling scene during the "withdrawal" in Kasajima with the athletic Tokita, employee of "Master" Kurata, after the bad defeat suffered against Kaizen Nango. Invited by the same Tokita, the friendly and calm Yoshimitsu will help Shiro to understand his opponent's secrets and improve his modeling technique. He appears in volume 5.
- Kazunari Araki (荒木一成, Araki Kazunari)
Famous for his plamos and dinosaur sculptures, he is (or was?) one of Kaiyodo Hobby Company's leading artists. He appears in volume 9 in a small cameo as a resident of the same "model village" of Hayami, victim of the Black Mountain.
The best dinosaur sculptor in Japan. He directs the dinosaur models displayed at the Japanese Natural History Museum and also makes models for dinosaur books. His wide activities take place by holding individual exhibitions and seminars at museums.
