Junko Jenko (ジュンコ・ジェンコ) is a fictional character in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam.

Personality & Character[]

Junko has a tendency to get in too deep in battle, which often makes Shrike Team leader Oliver Inoe worry that she is in a rush to get killed. Her closeness to Oliver often leads to a few scuffles with fellow League Militaire pilot Marbet Fingerhat. In battle, she usually acts as the field leader of the Shrike Team, assuming command whenever Oliver is occupied.

Although showing herself as a strong and self confident woman, she has a soft spot for the young Uso Ewin, acting both as en elder sister and a comrade on the battlefield.

History[]

Junko is the elder female member of the Shrike Team, together with Helen Jackson.

During Uso's escape from Side 2, Junko manages to save her young comrade by intervening during his duel with Katejina Loos. Her mobile suit is hit, but she still manages to eject from the cockpit and avoid the explosion. Junko is slightly injured but is rescued by her comrade, who brings her back to the Reinforce Junior, where she receives medical attention.

Despite her injuries, she still decides to return aboard a new Gun-EZ to take part in the battle against the Zanscare fleet. Together with the other pilots, she tries to protect the Keilas Guilie while the Federation attempts to use its cannon to destroy the Zanscare military harbour.

Following a brief duel with Katejina and Cronicle Asher, her unit is severely damaged and unable to continue the battle. Her mobile suit, now unusable, floats in space near the hull of the Keilas Guilie. At this point, Junko spots Cronicle moving nearby using a jetpack. The Zanscare officer is, in fact, attempting to place a time bomb near the remote control antenna for the Guilie's cannon.

Junko exits the cockpit of her damaged mobile suit and tries to stop the enemy by shooting at him with her pistol. Cronicle quickly returns fire and manages to place the bomb, after which he escapes from the ship with the help of his companion, Katejina.

The young leader of the Shrike Team realizes that the enemy attempted a sabotage action and manages to find the bomb hidden among the external panels of the Guilie. However, her attempt to disarm it fails, and thus Junko is killed in the explosion while Uso watches the entire scene from a short distance away.

Trivia[]

  • In Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs., Junko is a playable character. Despite being rather weak in terms of offense, her main specialty lies in providing cover for the partner unit, calling on three Shrike Team Gun-EZs with active shields.
