The Interplanetary Laser Transmission System (惑星間レーザー送電システム Wakusei-kan Rēzā Sōden Shisutemu?) or ILTS is a weapon of mass destruction introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury.

Technical Overview[]

An interplanetary weapon located at Lagrange 1 (L1), it was developed under the guide of a power transmission system, hence its name[1].

History[]

As Suletta Mercury and her friends fought to stop Prospera Mercury and the massive Quiet Zero battleship, the Space Assembly League plotted to take advantage of the moment by firing the Interplanetary Laser Transmission System at Quiet Zero under the guise of an "accidental discharge". One of the captains expressed her shock and displeasure at this, as the attack would not only destroy Quiet Zero, but also cause massive damage across Lagrange 4, which was dismissed by saying that Peil Technologies would lead the reconstruction. When Miorine Rembran shut down Quiet Zero's data storm, the SAL ordered the ILTS to be fired. In a desperate act, Ericht Samaya had the XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial Rebuild and its army of Gundnodes block the laser's shot, saving Quiet Zero at the cost of the Gundnodes and severely damaging the Aerial Rebuild.[1]

The SAL wasted no time recharging the satellite for a second shot. When Miorine publicly announced the SAL's complicity with recent terrorist events and promised to make the evidence public, as well as the Benerit Group's dissolution, the SAL chairman confidently assured Peil's CEOs that the satellite weapon would eliminate the threat she posed to their plans. However, Suletta, using the GUND Format of the X-EX01 Gundam Calibarn, the Aerial Rebuild, the FP/A-77 Gundam Pharact and the MDX-0003 Gundam Schwarzette to project a powerful data storm that shut down the weapon just before it could fire, thwarting the SAL and Peil's ambitions.[2]
