The Heavy Fork-class is a series of land battleships used by the Earth Federation during the One Year War. It first appears in the MS IGLOO series of CG short films.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
While the Big Tray-class is operated as a mobile command base, this class is specifically designed for artillery and is also called an attack-type land battleship. As the name suggests, it has a Y-shape similar to a fork, with a twin-boom bow, and a bridge and hangar hatch at the stern. Propulsion is a hovercraft method like the Big Tray. Equipped with one triple gun on each of the left and right bows and one in the center, it emphasizes the striking force against the front of the ship. Also, unlike some of the Big Tray-class land battleships, it is equipped with many anti-aircraft weaponry for close range defense. The battleship also has limited carrier roles, with a hangar door between the twin-boom bows, and a large flat deck behind the bridge.
Armaments[]
- Triple Main Gun
- The Heavy Fork-class is armed with three triple main guns as its primary weapons. These guns can elevate in their housings, and can fire high explosive shells at long ranges.
- Triple Secondary Gun
- The Heavy Fork-class is armed with six triple secondary guns, three on each of the outer sides of the ship's twin-boom bow.
- Twin Machine Gun
- For defensive purposes, the Heavy Fork-class is armed with twelve twin machine guns, with three on each of the outer sides of the twin-boom bow, two on each side of midship, and two mounted on the ship's bridge.
History[]
Several Heavy Fork-class land battleships, along with several Big Tray-class land battleships, participated in the Battle of Odessa during the One Year War. The "Norfolk" would serve as the command headquarters for "Operation 41", a large-scale counter-offensive operation to retake the North American continent.
During the events of Advance of Zeta: The Traitor to Destiny, Titans' "Nicosia" which has been renovated as an MS operation mothership would be deployed. Of the three main guns on the front, the two on the left and right have been abolished and an MS deck has been added, making it possible to operate six MS.
