Hari Jagannath is a secondary antagonist character introduced in the animated film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom.

A chairman of the PLANT National Defense Committee, Jagannath held radical views towards the protection of PLANT. Despite his radicalism, Jagannath was presented as a brave and honorable individual, willing to risk his own life for a cause.[1]

In C.E.75, during a meeting with Lacus Clyne, president of Compass, and Walter de Lament, the PLANT Supreme Council Chairman, in the aftermath of the Battle of Aldrin City, Jagannath was critical of Compass' conduct during the battle, which Kira Yamato disabled the pursuing ZAFT forces, despite Aldrin's ZAFT garrison received intelligence (which turned out to be false) that Colonel Michael, leader of Blue Cosmos, was behind the battle. After the meeting, Jagannath secretly met with Shura Serpentine to gain the support of the Kingdom of Foundation.[1]
He then led a Foundation-backed coup d'état to overthrow the PLANT Supreme Council, though he failed to capture Chairman de Lament, who successfully escaped with the Intelligence Division officers into the FFMH-Y101 Eternal. He also led the majority of his ZAFT forces to oversee the defence of the Requiem superweapon from his personal Nazca-class destroyer, the Burckhardt. While his fleet was engaging the combined Orb and Earth Alliance fleets, he soon received word that Chairman de Lament had overthrow the coup in the PLANTs. Despite having lost the political battle, Jagannath remained confident that their new world would still be possible if Requiem could successfully destroy Orb.[1]
The battle was soon joined by Yzak Joule's ZGMF-1027M Duel Blitz Gundam and Dearka Elsman's ZGMF-103HD Lightning Buster Gundam in METEOR units. After intercepting a missile salvo from Jagannath's fleet, Yzak demanded all troops serving under Jagannath to stand down and return to the PLANT homeland. Jagannath ignored Yzak's warnings that he'd be charged with treason, declaring that men like him are deserving to guide the future of the PLANTs. Subsequently, his ship received a transmission from Lacus Clyne, who announced that she escaped captivity from Foundation and voiced her opposition to the Destiny Plan. Even so, Jagannath was determined to continue fighting and refuted Yzak's pleas to surrender, arguing that maintaining the status quo will only perpetuate injustice and cruelty.[1]
Upon seeing the LHM-BB03S Millennium making an attack run towards the Foundation's BCI-183 Gullveig, Jagannath would attempt to destroy the Millennium by ramming it with his ship. His attack was intercepted by Dearka, who destroyed the Burckhardt's thrusters, and he was ultimately killed when Yzak launches Duel Blitz's lancer darts at the bridge, causing an explosion that killed Jagannath and his crew.[1]

- According to the novelization of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, Jagannath was the one who placed Requiem's power reactors under military control, and secretly reconstructed the superweapon.[2]
- His death at the hand of Yzak with the Duel Blitz is similar to the death of William Sutherland. Both were radicals killed by Yzak using an explosive projectile launched into the bridge of their respective ships.
