Technology & Combat Characteristics
A revamped design of the original RX-78-2 Gundam as a trial mobile suit. This model lacks the Core Block System and was armed, with only standard weaponry, including head-mounted vulcan guns, a pair of beam sabers and the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II's beam rifle.
- Vulcan Gun
- These shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire but little power, however, they are effective at close range and commonly employed to deter an enemy mobile suit from getting too close. They are also ideal for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles, small vehicles, etc.
- Beam Saber
- The standard close range armament for most mobile suits, it is a small cylindrical device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. The beam saber emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and is capable of cutting through almost any metal not treated with anti-beam coating. The Half Gundam has two beam sabers stored in the backpack.
- BOWA*XBR-M-86-C2 Beam Rifle
- The standard ranged armament of the many mobile suits is the beam rifle. The particle beam fired from a beam rifle can penetrate almost any armor that has not been treated with specific counter-measures. This model has a power rating of 2.6 MW; which is powered by a replaceable energy cap.
The Half Gundam was another experiment by the Titans to create a new Gundam-type mobile suit. However the Gundam would never see actual combat, as it was destroyed in a practice duel with the Gundam Mk-II.
