The Gundam Ex Impulse (ガンダム エクスインパルス Gandamu Ekusu Inparusu?) is a Gunpla from Gundam Build Divers Genius Head Line.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Gunpla of Manfred von Sakazaki, the leader of the Force "Sokyu Ryodan," a Force which specializes in aerial combat. The base of the unit is an Impulse Gundam that has been customized to withstand intense high-speed aerial maneuvers. It is capable of equipping Silhouette Packs, but its standard pack is the Ex Silhouette, a customized α Force Silhouette like that used by the Force Impulse Gundam. The Ex Silhouette can shift between a high-speed Cruising Form and a high-maneuverability Maneuvering Form, which furthers its ability to perform feats of extreme aerial acrobatics when controlled by an excellent pilot like Manfred.
Its dedicated armament is the "Adler Zwei," a custom made Large Beam Rifle which can also emit a beam saber. Because of the very high speed and slim margin for error involved in aerial combat, this function allows the Ex Impulse to switch to a melee combat option immediately, without losing any time to swap weapons, so that it maintains the upper hand in duels.
Armaments[]
- "Adler Zwei" Large Beam Rifle
- A custom large beam rifle made for the Gundam Ex Impulse. It is capable of generating a beam saber blade from its barrel so that the Ex Impulse does not have to switch to a dedicated melee weapon when it gets into close combat situations during high speed aerial dogfights. It can be stowed on the rear skirt armor when not in use.
- Anti-armor Knife
- One anti-armor knife is stored in each of the Ex Impulse's side skirt armor. These small physical knives are the same as those used by the base Impulse Gundam. Its high hardness blade flips out of the handle during use, and can vibrate to enhance cutting capabilities.
- Beam Saber
- Mounted on the Ex Silhouette pack behind the shoulders, this pair of beam sabers are aesthetically different than those used by the base Force Impulse Gundam. They are handheld in use and far more effective in close combat than the anti-armor knives, though the beam saber generated by the "Adler Zwei" Large Beam Rifle is preferential to using the handheld beam sabers because of the time it would take to retrieve them.
- 20mm CIWS
- Mounted in the lower chest, the pair of physical projectile-firing CIWS guns have excellent rapid-fire capabilities. They are primarily used to intercept incoming missiles or enemy units, and to restrict enemy's movements. They are also capable of penetrating ordinary Mobile Suit armor in extreme close range.
- Mobile Shield
- The Gundam Ex Impulse uses the same type of physical anti-beam coated shield as the base Impulse Gundam. It can be mounted on the left forearm or handheld. This shield can expand to cover a larger area, and its top and bottom panels double as landing skids for the Chest Flyer.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Modular Design & Core Splendor
- As it is based on the Impulse Gundam, the Ex Impulse is made up of three different modular components. The main module is the small transformable fighter plane, the Core Splendor which contains the suit's cockpit. The other modules are the Leg Flyer and Chest Flyer.
- Hardpoints for Silhouette Packs
- Like the Impulse Gundam, the Gundam Ex Impulse can equip exchangeable Silhouette Pack into hardpoints on its back. Its default Silhouette Pack is the Ex Silhouette, though it is capable of equipping other Silhouette Packs.
