Gundam: The Battle Master 2 is the direct sequel to Gundam: The Battle Master, released exclusively for the Sony Playstation in Japan. It would later be localized under the name Gundam Battle Assault.

Gameplay

The gameplay from the original game had received a significant overhaul. While mobile suits still retain three health bars, they no longer recover over time, lending to a more traditional fighting game experience. Ranged and melee weapon attacks were also significantly altered. Special attacks that use the main weapon now consume ammo as represented by a numerical value. By pressing either the Weak or Strong buttons with the command, fighters can alternate between single or short bursts to conserve ammo or fire additional shots at the expense of increased ammo consumption. If this value reaches 0, those attacks can no longer be used with no way of reloading. Melee attacks involving beam sabers and the like now have a wind up, telegraphed animation with their weapon and arm flashing though with the tradeoff of these attacks being unblockable.

Unlike the first game, the game's story follows two main characters new to this universe, Gloria Chanvalley and her partner, Pixie, a mysterious youth as they travel around the world combating other mobile suit pilots. Aside from interaction with the other fighters, the story also includes animated interludes in between fights that delve further into the relationship between the two.

The game also features a slightly expanded VS mode that allows the player to play against the CPU as well as pilot additional unlockable mobile suits and mobile armors.
