The Granada Colony Drop is a conflict featured in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

Prelude[]

Following the AEUG’s recapture of Von Braun from the Titans garrison,[1] Lieutenant Commander Jamaican Daninghan sought to rectify his defeat by destroying Granada. To that end, the Alexandria appropriated one of Side 4’s uninhabited colonies, Colony 27, and set it on a course for Granada. However, Paptimus Scirocco was against Jamaican’s plan, seeing its success as a hindrance to his own interests and long-term plans. To prevent Granada’s destruction, Scirocco sent one of his followers, Sarah Zabiarov, to the Argama, to inform the AEUG of the impending colony drop. While hesitant to believe her, the AEUG’s intelligence network confirmed that a colony from Side 4 had begun to move. In response, the Argama and Radish set course for the colony to disrupt the Titan’s plans. At Granada, Wong Lee and Melanie Hue Carbine decided that ordering an evacuation of Granada was futile, believing that, should the AEUG fail to save the city, the war was ultimately lost. Despite concerns from Granada’s Mayor, no evacuation order was given.[2]

The Battle[]

Once within range of the incoming colony, the Argama and Radish deployed their mobile suit teams, followed by the two ships firing their main weapons at the colony in an attempt to change its course away from Granada. In response to the attack, Yazan Gable ordered the Alexandria’s mobile suit to intercept the AEUG force. During the battle, Lieutenant Emma Sheen made her way towards the colony to locate the nuclear pulse thrusters, while Kamille Bidan fought against Yazan’s ORX-005 Gaplant in his Zeta Gundam.

Back on the Argama, Sarah managed to escape from the ship in her Hizack. Before she left, she mentioned that Yazan’s Gaplant had a bindspot due to its rushed development. This information was given to Kamille, who used the weakness to fire grenades at the Gaplant, destroying its legs. Despite interference from multiple Hizacks, Emma was able to locate and detonate the colony’s nuclear pulse thruster, changing its course beyond correction. The colony crashed roughly one-hundred and eighty kilometers away from Granada, leaving the lunar city safe.[2]

Aftermath[]

This second failure from Jamaican ultimately led Yazan to conclude that his commander was incompetent and orchestrated his demise during the Skirmish at the Gwazine Wreckage.[3]
