The Gefangener GM (also known as the Captured GM) is a mobile suit that first appeared in MS Era 0099– Mobile Suit Gundam 0001-0080.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
This machine is an RGM-79 GM that has been captured and appropriated by the Principality of Zeon. As a machine serving under Zeon, it was repainted with a Zaku-esque green to prevent friendly forces from misfiring, and the initial hexagonal shield in its hand had a large emblem of the Principality of Zeon painted on it.
Armaments[]
- 60mm Vulcan Gun
- A pair of shell-firing armament built into the head. Though not powerful, its high rate of fire meant it was employed to intercept incoming missiles, etc.
- M-120A1 120mm Machine Gun
- The same portable firearm used by the Zaku II. It can switch between semi-automatic and automatic fire. Although useless against Luna Titanium Alloy, it can still destroy weaker armor material with multiple shots. It fires 120mm caliber rounds that are stored in a 100-rounds drum magazine.
- 120mm Assault Rifle
- A new model assault rifle that appears to be an upgrade of the MMP-78 machine gun.
- MMP-80 90mm Machine Gun
- A small caliber machine gun for mobile suits developed under the United Maintenance Plan. The overall shape and mechanism of the Zaku Machine Gun, which was previously deployed, has been changed. The magazine has been changed from a drum magazine to a box magazine, and a 197mm grenade launcher is available as an option. The caliber has been reduced to 90mm, but as a result, the hit rate has improved, and the 90mm shell used is also excellent in initial velocity and anti-MS firepower. The number of bullets loaded is 32 in the standard single magazine and 100 in the triple magazine. The late production model features a different barrel and hand guard, resulting in a more compact shape.
- FADEGEL RGM-M-Sh-003 Shield
- A basic defense armament for the Federation's GM type MS. It is composed of a triple honeycomb structure made of Luna Titanium and the surface also has anti-beam coating for defending against beam attacks.
History[]
Historically, Zeon had used captured GMs for false flag tactics and operations, which would be left in their standard Federation colors, alongside their own GM Camouf. They were also used for performance research. In U.C. 0081 one unit would be piloted by Invisible Knights member Ailos Bade, who would use it in the MS-08TX/N Efreet Nacht recapture mission.

Notes & Trivia[]
- "Gefangener" is German for "prisoner" or "captive"[1], although the same term can also mean the adjective "captured", which would be the grammatically correct translation here.
- Due to unfamiliarity with Federation Mobile Suit development and a lack of replacement parts, it was not uncommon for Gefangener GMs to be modified with parts from Zeon mobile suits, most frequently seen with replaced shoulder armor.
