The Gaw Kai (ガウ改?) is an atmospheric carrier aircraft first appearing in the short film Gundam Neo Experience 0087: Green Divers.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A large atmospheric-use transport aircraft operated by the Earth Federation Forces some time after the end of the One Year War. Though it still has some characteristics of the former Principality of Zeon's Gaw, the form of the aircraft is closer to the design of the Garuda-class.
Its hangar is large enough to accommodate several Mobile Suits, and an elevator on the upper part of the hull allows it to be accessed or deploy Mobile Suits from a hatch on the top. Armaments are unknown, but it appears to have similar retractable weapon emplacements as the Gaw, located in hatches the wings.
History[]
On the 6th of December, U.C. 0087, a Gaw Kai belonging to the Earth Federation Force's 91st Rescue Team was one of the respondents to a mayday issued by an Aerial D300 Lifeboat that had entered Earth's atmosphere following a disaster aboard the civilian spaceliner Prospero. By using the partially raised elevator on the Gaw Kai's topside to brace themselves, three GM IIs onboard were able catch the Karaba-affiliated Zeta Gundam 3A Type, which had been holding onto the Aerial lifeboat to try to slow its speed.
The Atbarana, another Gaw Kai, which was transporting Mobile Suit parts, is captured by the anti-Titans militant group Keraunos in North America.
