The GNY-0042-874 Gundam Artemie (aka Gundam Artemie, Artemie, Gundam 874) is a mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 00P. The unit is piloted by Hanayo and the unit was later rebuilt as GNR-101A GN Archer.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The Gundam Artemie is classified as a 3rd generation prototype custom-built mobile suit. It is the successor to the GNY-004 Gundam Plutone and the predecessor to GNR-101A GN Archer. Artemie was designed specifically for its Innovade Meister, Hanayo; its design had taken more personalized creative liberties and takes the motif of a humanoid female bee (or wasp). Plutone was intended to adapt Celestial Being's latest experimental system, the Trial System. Unfortunately, the technical complications to realize Trial proved too difficult at the time; Celestial Being (CB) engineers decided to draft a new Gundam, Artemie, in the interest of CB MS advancement.

For weapons and combat, Artemie is armed with a GN Spray Gun and four GN Bits fashioned as its bee wings. The GN Spray Gun is a low-yield variant of a GN Beam Rifle for limited-range shooting. Unfortunately, its capabilities aren't well-defined; its range and method of use in combat is unknown. Attached to the right side of the gun is a pair of blade-antennas for melee combat. One unusual aspect of its complements is that it lacks a GN Beam Saber for melee combat; its blade-antenna is the only hand-held weapon it has. On Artemie's back, the attached GN Bits are used to allow Artemie for high-speed combat; they can be deployed as flying beam weapons for multi-vector assault; however, it is unclear whether or not the bits can form particle beams like a beam saber.

In terms of its systems and propulsion, Artemie has a Bit Control System that allows it to deploy its GN Bits for coordinated attacks. While not confirmed, it is presumed based on the fact that Artemie was tuned for an Innovade pilot, Hayano can mentally communicate and execute certain commands to Artemie with her mental will; the full extent of its systems, capabilities, and functions between its Meister and MS remains unclear. Because the unit's size is smaller than other Gundams, it wouldn't fit a GN Drive into its body like the other Gundams. Instead, the GN Drive was externally connected to Artermie's rear, encased in the armored "abdomen" to complete the bee motif; the abdomen transfers GN particles over to a GN Vernier (above its GN Drive) for primary thrust. When the GN Bits are docked at the back of Artemie, it can provide additional boost and the locked bits can swivel for vector-thrusting to grant Artemie accelerated vector-thrusting.

Unfortunately, Artemie has no Trans-Am System available for use despite utilizing an original GN Drive. The GN Drive utilized at the time didn't have its black-box unlocked; Trans-Am remained dormant and couldn't enhance its combat capabilities during its service. However, it can utilize the Trial System to gain an advantage in special combat conditions. CB engineers incorporated the Trial System with Artemie, which can be used to paralyze/neutralize rogue CB assets and/or stolen CB tech, making them easy pickings when immobilized. When activated, the blade-antenna folds outwards to act as an emitter array to neutralize all nearby targets. The technology was proven a success and it would pave the way for future CB MS development. Like Nadleeh, Artemie also has red particle conduits and they are hidden by a mask on its face. However it is unknown what the function of these conduits are.

After testing was completed with Artemie, the data on Artemie's weapons and systems would later be used to develop the Akwos System (Trial combat armor system) to expand the range and effectiveness of Gundam Nadleeh's Trial. While Artemie proved Trial's worth, the unit had limited service and didn't make it with its fellow GNY series for extended deployment in Fereshte, CB's shadow support team. However, it wasn't the end of Artemie. The unit was stored away until CB engineers needed to create a new support unit for GN-007 Arios Gundam; CB engineers revived Atermie through reconstruction. It was refurbished and rebuilt into a new variant, GNR-101A GN Archer, and can combine with Arios as GN-007+GNR-101A Archer Arios.[1][2]

Armaments

  • GN Bits
Four of these remote weapons are mounted on Artemie's back in fashion similar to a bee's wings. Due to limited definitions, Artemie's bits were never fully defined in terms of its combat capabilities. It's presumed to function similar to GN Fangs.
  • GN Spray Gun
A weaker variant of the GN Beam Rifle. The spray gun mounts a pair of large blade antennas to increase the effect and range of the Trial system.

Special Equipment & Features

Bit Control System is a system feature that delegates and controls the remote bits/fangs of mobile weapon.

History

Originally created as Gundam 874 (after Meister 874), Gundam Artemie was named right before Hanayo sortied against the two CBY-077 GN Cannons and one CB-001 1 Gundam. The unit was created for Meister 874/Hanayo, but was not completed until Grave was shot. It was quickly built in order to find the traitor (Beside Pain) in the organization. The unit was later heavily damaged during the battle.

Notes & Trivia

  • Artemie is named after the Greek goddess, Artemis. She was the Hellenic goddess of the hunt, wild animals, wilderness, childbirth, virginity and young girls, bringing and relieving disease in women; she often was depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows.
