The GN-008RE Seravee Gundam II (aka Seravee Gundam II, Seravee, Seravee II) is a mobile suit developed from GN-008GNHW/B Seravee Gundam GNHW/B, and introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie -A wakening of the Trailblazer-.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The GN-008RE Seravee Gundam II is an unmanned mobile suit and successor of the GN-008 Seravee Gundam.[1][2][3][4] It is often described as a repaired and modified version of Seravee[2][5][6][7], and this is because it was built from the wreckage of Seravee's enhanced form, the GN-008GNHW/B Seravee Gundam GNHW/B.[2][5][8][9] The Seravee II is usually mounted on top of the CB-002 Raphael Gundam in a disguised state, serving as additional equipment for the latter and enhancing its combat capabilities.[1][2][5][10] When required, Seravee II can separate from Raphael and transforms into its MS Form to operate independently.[1][2][3][5] In this state, Seravee II is remote controlled by Tieria Erde from the Raphael's cockpit through his quantum brainwaves.[1][2][6][4] Having Seravee II and Raphael operating as two separate units enabled Tieria to fight more strategically, and since Seravee II is unmanned, it could be deployed for dangerous mission where there is a risk of being destroyed.[1][3][4] The known armament of Seravee II consisted of two GN Bazookas for ranged combat, and a GN Beam Saber stored in each forearm for melee combat.[1][2][7][11] As a last resort, Seravee II can self-destruct, taking nearby enemy units down with it.[1]
Since the original GN Drive that powered the original Seravee was lost with the destruction of the GN-009 Seraphim Gundam, and Tieria was unable to obtain a new original GN Drive, the Seravee II was powered by three GN Drive Taus instead, one installed in each leg, and one in the torso.[2][3][5][12] With these three GN Drive Taus, the Seravee II obtained great power, and its offensive performance is comparable to original GN Drive-equipped mobile suits.[2][5] Additionally, when Seravee II is mounted on Raphael, these GN Drive Taus function as the latter's power source.[2][3][10] While Raphael is not equipped with its own GN Drive Tau, it can rely on a built-in particle storage tank, also known as a large GN Condenser, as an alternate power source when it is operating without Seravee II.[2][3][5][13] This large GN Condenser is supplied with GN Particles from Seravee II when the unmanned mobile suit is attached to Raphael[2][3], and there are claims that these particles are sourced specifically from Seravee II's torso-mounted GN Drive Tau.[4][5]
The Seravee II is said to be developed in parallel with Raphael, and both machines were constructed in the colony-class deep space mothership Celestial Being, which housed the production facilities for the Innovators' GNZ series and is equipped with a large particle cannon powered by a GN Drive Tau cartridge.[2][14][15] As Seravee II was built from the wrecked Seravee GNHW/B, it also incorporated parts from the original Seravee in its body, most notably in its head.[2][5][7] The Seravee II's head is a simplified model of the original Seravee's, featuring simpler side ducts and antennas, while retaining the basic form, structure, and GN Particles control functions.[4][5] When Seravee II transforms from its disguised state to its MS Form, the Raphael's GN Big Cannons revert to being Seravee II's legs, the folded upper body of the Seravee II flips forward to reconnect with the waist, the arms are then deployed while the lower body rotates 180 degrees.[1][2][4][7] Besides cutting off Raphael from the GN Drive Taus, the deployment of Seravee II as an independent unit also affected Raphael's combat capabilities, depriving it of the GN Big Cannons and GN Bazookas.[1][2][4][5] It has suggested that Seravee II only separates from Raphael during an emergency.[2][4]
Armaments[]
- GN Bazooka
- The GN-008RE Seravee Gundam II is equipped with a pair of handheld GN Bazookas as its primary ranged armament.[1][2][4][5] Utilizing compressed GN Particles, this long-barreled weapon fires beams with higher destructive power than those of a GN Beam Rifle, but its rate of fire is inferior.[2][3][5][10] The GN Bazookas used by Seravee II is an improved version of the GN Bazooka IIs used by the GN-008 Seravee Gundam, but they do not have the latter's combining functions.[2][3][4][5] When the Seravee II transforms and attaches to the top of the CB-002 Raphael Gundam's body to serve as additional equipment, the two GN Bazookas also become part of the latter's armaments.[3][6][10]
- GN Beam Saber
- A melee weapon that emits a beam blade when drawn[16][17], the Seravee II is equipped with two GN Beam Sabers.[2][7][11] Like the original Seravee, a GN Beam Saber is stored in each of Seravee II's forearms, and they slide out to be held in hand when used.[7][11][16][17]
Special Equipment & Features[]
- When activated, this system releases at once all the compressed high-density GN Particles accumulated in a machine, enhancing its thrust and defensive capabilities as well as allowing it to perform at three times its normal output for a limited time.[18][19][20][21] Additionally, the entire machine will glow red and afterimages are generated during movements.[1][18][19][21] The Trans-Am System was initially usable only by the original GN Drive-equipped Gundams, but the Innovators eventually created a version usable by GN Drive Tau-equipped mobile suits in AD 2312.[14][19][22][23] While there is no official information on whether the GN-008RE Seravee Gundam II is equipped with Trans-Am System, it can be presumed to have this system as the CB-002 Raphael Gundam activated Trans-Am while powered by Seravee II's three GN Drive Taus in its first encounter with the "Extraterrestial Living-metal Shape-shifter" (ELS).[1][6][4][10]
- The Trans-Am System developed by the Innovators for GN Drive Tau-equipped machines has a drawback in which the GN Drive Tau becomes inoperable after using Trans-Am, and until it is replaced, the mobile suit operates using the particles remaining in its GN Condensers.[22][23] There is no official confirmation on whether this issue was resolved by AD 2314. However, it is worth noting that after Raphael utilized Trans-Am System in its first encounter with the ELS, it still fought normally during the second battle with the alien species.[1] Furthermore, Seravee II was also deployed in this second battle, and it operated without any issue.[1] In between the two battles, Raphael was docked in the Celestial Being's CBS-742 Ptolemaios 2 Kai, which is not known to have any GN Drive Tau related facility, although the ship was able to provide GN Particles to the Solbraves team's GN Drive Tau-equipped mobile suits.[1][2]
History[]
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie -A wakening of the Trailblazer-[]
During Celestial Being's second encounter with the alien species "Extraterrestial Living-metal Shape-shifter" (ELS) in AD 2314, Tieria Erde separated the GN-008RE Seravee Gundam II from the CB-002 Raphael Gundam to rescue Setsuna F. Seiei, who was incapacitated by the massive amount of information transmitted by the ELS through quantum brainwaves. Using his own quantum brainwaves, Tieria remote controlled the Seravee II towards Setsuna's GN-0000RE+GNR-010 00 Raiser Condenser Type, which was struck by several small ELS and being assimilated by the aliens.
After destroying two small ELS in its path with the GN Bazookas, the Seravee II reached the 00 Raiser Condenser Type. Tieria first had Seravee II tore off part of the 00 Raiser Condenser Type's chest armor, then ripped out its cockpit block for passing to Lockon Stratos's GN-010 Gundam Zabanya. Since Seravee II was in contact with the 00 Raiser Condenser Type, it also came under assimilation by the ELS. Meanwhile, Raphael was surrounded and overwhelmed by the aliens. Tieria then self-destructed the Raphael by overloading its Trans-Am System, destroying the nearby ELS as well. The Seravee II also self-destructed at around the same time.
