The GN-008GNHW/B Seravee Gundam GNHW/B is a variant of the GN-008 Seravee Gundam introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 season two. It was piloted by Tieria Erde.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The GN-008GNHW/B Seravee Gundam GNHW/B was the upgraded form of the GN-008 Seravee Gundam deployed during the Celestial Being's final battle with the A-Laws and the Innovators.[1][2][3][4] Designed to increase Seravee's offensive and defensive capabilities, the GNHW/B (GN Heavy Weapons/Beam) was one of the many GNHW plans developed to enhance the Gundam for this battle.[2][5][6][7] A new pair of GN Cannons were mounted on the waist in place of the side skirt armor to improve the mobile suit's firepower, and when they were used with the other ranged weaponry, Seravee Gundam GNHW/B could wipe out a large group of enemies in an instant.[2][4][8][9] As for the mobile suit's defensive capabilities, four new GN Field Generators were attached to the shoulders and legs, enabling Seravee Gundam GNHW/B to generate a stronger GN Field than the original Seravee.[2][4][6][10] The GN Field Generators were also equipped with GN Condensers, reducing the amount of GN Particles drawn from the Gundam's main body when generating the GN Field.[2][6][9]
The Seravee Gundam GNHW/B also had two additional GN Verniers fitted on its backpack's GN Cannons, improving its thrust and mobility.[2][6] Like the original Seravee, the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's backpack could detach and transform into the GN-009 Seraphim Gundam.[11][12] The new pair of GN Cannons could alternatively be attached to the Seraphim as well.[2][13] The Seraphim turned into the GN-009GNHW/B Seraphim Gundam GNHW/B when equipped with both the GN Verniers and the new GN Cannons, and it could still switch between backpack form and MS form.[2][13][14] The first choice GNHW plan for Seravee was the GNHW/3G, which was designed to enhance the Trial System.[2][5][6][15] However, the GNHW/3G faced several issues and was dropped in favor of the GNHW/B.[5][6][15][16] The damaged Seravee Gundam GNHW/B was later recovered after the battle and used to construct the GN-008RE Seravee Gundam II, which usually functioned as a part of Tieria's new Gundam, the CB-002 Raphael Gundam.[17][18][19][20]
Armaments[]
- GN Bazooka II
- A pair of handheld beam firearms, they are the same GN Bazooka IIs as used by the original GN-008 Seravee Gundam.[1][2][6][21] They are improved version of GN-005 Gundam Virtue's GN Bazooka, and while a single GN Bazooka II is more than sufficient to destroy enemy mobile suit, a higher level of firepower can be obtained by combining the two bazookas into the "Double Bazooka".[2][6][21][22] However, the Double Bazooka has a lower rate of fire and is harder to wield than the individual GN Bazooka II.[4][9] The Double Bazooka also has a maximum output mode called "Burst Mode", where the barrel splits apart and fires a ball of beam energy instead of a beam shot.[2][4][6][23] The GN Bazooka IIs can also be used together with the GN Cannons for a variety of powerful attacks.[1][2][6][21] Each GN Bazooka II has a grip at the rear and another grip at the side, and it is typical held using the rear grip, with the side grip used during Double Bazooka Burst Mode.[1][6][8][21]
- GN Cannon
- The Seravee Gundam GNHW/B has the same knees and backpack-mounted large beam cannons as the original Seravee, with two GN Verniers added to the rear of the backpack's cannons to improve the mobile suit's thrust and mobility.[1][2][6][21] Besides these four cannons, the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B also has two new large beam cannons mounted on the sides of its waist, giving it a total of six GN Cannons.[1][2][4][9] Unlike the four original GN Cannons, the two new GN Cannons do not have hidden arm function, thus they cannot transform into arms, and they are also not equipped with GN Beam Sabers.[6][9][21] A feature of the new GN Cannons is that their barrels split apart when in use.[1][2][8][13] The new GN Cannons can alternatively be attached to the GN-009GNHW/B Seraphim Gundam GNHW/B's side skirt armor even when the mobile suit is docked on the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's back.[2][6][13][14] Like the original Seravee, the four GN Cannons on the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's knees and backpack can combine their output to jointly fire a destructive beam, and this attack is known as "Quad Cannon".[2][6][21] The GN Cannons, including the two new ones, can also be used in combination with the GN Bazooka IIs for a variety of attacks.[1][2][6][8]
- GN Beam Saber
- A high power melee combat weapon that emits a beam blade made of compressed GN Particles when drawn.[2][6][13][21] Seravee Gundam GNHW/B retained the six GN Beam Sabers of the original Seravee, two stored in its forearms and four more in the knees and backpack-mounted GN Cannons.[6][9][13][21] When used, the GN Beam Sabers stored in the forearms slide out to under the hands, allowing them to be grabbed instantly for attacking enemy unit.[6][7][21][24] The four GN Beam Sabers stored in the GN Cannons also have similar sliding mechanism for immediate wielding by the hands of the cannons' hidden arms.[6][21][25] Attacking with the GN Beam Saber held by the hidden arm can surprise the opponent due to its atypical nature, but this attack could still be avoided.[6][13][21][22] The original Seravee was capable of deploying all six GN Beam Sabers at once[6][25], and this should also be possible for Seravee Gundam GNHW/B.
- GN Beam Machine Gun
- A gun developed for the GN-009 Seraphim Gundam which originally had no dedicated portable firearm.[2][5][10][16] This small weapon is stored on one of the Seraphim's legs when the mobile suit is attached to the back of the Seravee.[2] The GN Beam Machine Gun is mainly used for restricting enemy movements as Seraphim is not actively used in combat.[5][16] The plan for the final battle with the Innovators only called for activating the Seraphim's Trial System at the same time as Veda was recaptured, so there was no intention to fight using Seraphim, and because of this, the mobile suit sortied as part of the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B without the GN Beam Machine Gun.[2]
- GN Bazooka II + GN Cannon Combinations
- The Seravee Gundam GNHW/B retained the original Seravee's ability to connect the GN Bazooka II to the GN Cannon for a variety of combined attacks.[2][6][21] As with the Seravee, the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's strongest attack, which utilized both GN Bazooka IIs and all six GN Cannons, does not require such a connection.[1][2][21][26]
- Buster Cannon & Twin Buster Cannon
- The "Buster Cannon" is formed when a GN Bazooka II is attached to a GN Cannon mounted on the backpack.[2][6][21] As implied by its name, the "Twin Buster Cannon" is formed when the pair of GN Bazooka IIs attached separately to the two backpack-mounted GN Cannons.[2][6][21]
- Double Bazooka Cannon & Double Bazooka Burst Cannon
- The "Double Bazooka Cannon" is formed when the Double Bazooka is attached to one of the backpack-mounted GN Cannons.[2][21][22] When this combination utilizes the Double Bazooka Burst Mode, it is known as the "Double Bazooka Burst Cannon".[2][21][22] The Double Bazooka Burst Cannon is said to fire a ball of beam energy larger than that of the Double Bazooka Burst Mode.[22]
- Hyper Burst
- Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's strongest attack, where the six GN Cannons are used together with the Double Bazooka Burst Mode, resulting in a huge ball of beam energy being shot at the enemy.[1][2] The original Seravee could trigger a maximum power Hyper Burst attack when both Trans-Am System and Face Burst Mode were activated[26], and this should also be possible for Seravee Gundam GNHW/B.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Like the original GN-008 Seravee Gundam, the GN-008GNHW/B Seravee Gundam GNHW/B can generate around itself a spherical GN Field barrier made of compressed GN Particles for 360 degree protection against most physical and beam attacks.[1][2][8][27] However, Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's GN Field has higher defensive power due to the four GN Field Generators added to its shoulders and legs.[2][4][6][9] Additionally, the GN Field Generators have built-in GN Condensers, reducing the amount of GN Particles drawn from the mobile suit's main body when generating the GN Field.[2][6][9] Similar to the GN-005 Gundam Virtue's GN Field Generators, a section of the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's GN Field Generators pop up when in use.[2][7][8][28] Seravee Gundam GNHW/B can also use its GN Field to defend friendly unit from incoming attacks, but the GN Field is not impenetrable, as shown by a missile penetrating the barrier following the A-Laws's deployment of particle disruption measure on the battlefield.[1][8][13] The original Seravee was able to improve the defensive performance of its GN Field by activating Face Burst Mode,[6][10][21] and this should also be possible for Seravee Gundam GNHW/B.
- Face Burst Mode
- As with the original Seravee, parts of Seravee Gundam GNHW/B's backpack will unfold to expose a huge Gundam face when the mobile suit is operating at full power, and this is known as "Face Burst Mode".[2][4][21][24] During Face Burst Mode, the mobile suit's GN Particle emission is greatly increased, with copious amount of particles emitted from the pair of vents on the left and right side of the huge Gundam face.[4][7][24] Additionally, this mode enhances the mobile suit's particle control capability as the two large, yellow antennas that unfold as part of the huge Gundam face are particle control antennas, like the four antennas on the mobile suit's head.[6][10][21] Overall, Face Burst Mode has the effect of improving the GN Field's defensive performance, enable stronger ranged beam attacks, enhance mobility by maximizing the output of the two main thrusters at the bottom of the backpack, etc.[4][6][9][21]
- A special system that when activated would fully release all of the compressed high-density GN Particles accumulated in the Gundam, enhancing its mobility and defensive capabilities as well as allowing it to perform at three times its normal output for a limited time.[29][30][31][32] Additionally, the entire Gundam appeared red and afterimages were generated when moving.[8][13][29][31] Since Seravee Gundam GNHW/B retained the particle-intensive, high-output ranged beam weaponry and GN Field of the original Seravee, it also has greatly improved functionalities during Trans-Am as a result of the increased amount of GN Particles released.[2][6][29] The Seravee was able to activate Face Burst Mode while in Trans-Am Mode[26][33], and this should be possible for Seravee Gundam GNHW/B as well.
- Unfortunately, the Trans-Am System is a double-edged sword, as once it ended, the Gundam's performance would drop as all its GN Particles were used up.[29][30][31][34] The Gundams deployed by the Celestial Being since AD 2312 were designed on the premise of using the Trans-Am System, thus, although a certain drop in performance remained unavoidable, the deterioration would not be that severe until they could not battle.[27][29][35] Furthermore, these Gundams were able to deactivate the Trans-Am System at any time.[27][36] Like Seravee, the Seravee Gundam GNHW/B was not installed with its own GN Drive, thus it is likely that it could only activate Trans-Am System when GN-009 Seraphim Gundam or GN-009GNHW/B Seraphim Gundam GNHW/B is docked to its back.[6][27][29][36]
