The GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G (aka 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, Seven Sword/G) is an upgraded variant of the GN-0000/7S 00 Gundam Seven Sword. Introduced in the side story Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record, it is piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The Celestial Being defeated the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators, but it was a narrow victory that heavily drained the funds and resources of the paramilitary organization.[1][2][3] Despite this, the organization initiated development of new Gundams to replace those that were heavily damaged during the final battle.[1][2][3] One of these new Gundams is the GNT-0000 00 Qan[T], a replacement for the heavily damaged GN-0000 00 Gundam as the personal machine of Setsuna F. Seiei, who had awakened as a true Innovator.[3][4][5][6] However, completing the 00 Qan[T] required a large amount of time, so refurbishment of the 00 Gundam using left over parts and equipment proceeded simultaneously to meet Setsuna's need for a substitute mobile suit during this period.[2][3][4][5] There is multiple refurbishment plans and the "GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G" is one of them.[3][4][5] The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G is an upgraded form of the GN-0000/7S 00 Gundam Seven Sword, an existing variant of 00 Gundam equipped with seven swords.[2][3][7][8]

The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G has improved basic performance, and two unique features that distinguished it from the 00 Gundam Seven Sword.[2][3][5][6] Unlike its predecessor, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G has a Twin Drive stabilization system similar to that of the GNR-010 0 Raiser installed in its GN Buster Sword II.[2][3][5][8] This made it possible for the 00 Gundam's Twin Drive System to function stably even without the 0 Raiser.[3][5] Lack of the Twin Drive stabilization system and incompatibility with 0 Raiser contributed to the 00 Gundam Seven Sword being unused during the conflicts with the Innovades.[6][7][8][9] The other unique feature is the GN Sword II Blaster, a new composite weapon designed for an Innovator and with a focus on functioning as a gun rather than a sword.[2][3][7][10] The "/G" in the name "00 Gundam Seven Sword/G" stands for "Gun" and is a reference to this new weapon.[3][5][6][7] The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G acquired excellent shooting capabilities thanks to the GN Sword II Blaster, and combined with the high melee combat capabilities inherited from 00 Gundam Seven Sword, it is a high performance all-rounder capable of fighting in any range.[3][4][5][7] Furthermore, its offensive and defensive powers exceeded expectations.[5]

Although 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was equipped with a Twin Drive stabilization system, the pair of GN Drives required for the Twin Drive System were lost during the final battle.[1][5][11][12] Thus, alternatives to the two GN Drives were tested, such as a GN Drive plus a large GN Condenser, and two large GN Condensers.[2][4] The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G could operate using both aforementioned methods, but they failed to reproduce the Twin Drive System, and the amount of GN Particles is limited as the GN Condenser is unable to produce these particles like a GN Drive.[2][4][6][11] Fortunately, 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G has the ability to fight while minimizing particle consumption as it is mainly armed with melee weapons, and this resulted in it being prioritized for testing over other substitute mobile suits for Setsuna.[4] Furthermore, the GN Sword II Blaster enabled it to handle combat situations where melee weapons are inadequate.[4] While the Trans-Am System was unusable when 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was equipped with the GN Drive plus large GN Condenser, the two large GN Condensers configuration was able to activate Trans-Am, but only for 0.03 seconds.[2][4][5][6]

Many valuable data were gathered by 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G through its various tests, and they were utilized in 00 Qan[T]'s development.[3][5] Computer simulations were also conducted using the quantum processing system Veda to enhance the performance of 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, leading to the GN-0000GNHW/7SGD2 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection that only existed in data form.[7][9][11] Celestial Being eventually developed improved version of the large GN Condenser that could reproduce the Twin Drive System when paired, and utilize the Trans-Am System properly, but duration of the Trans-Am Mode is still shorter compared to when equipped with the two GN Drives.[5][7][11][12] Even so, 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was never deployed in actual combat, except for accidental battle during testing.[2][3][5][7] This was because Celestial Being avoided conspicuous armed interventions with the Gundams.[3][5] Additionally, as an Innovator, Setsuna prefers non-violent interactions, such as dialogues, putting 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G at a disadvantage.[3][5] This was why Setsuna sortied in the GN-0000RE+GNR-010 00 Raiser GN Condenser Type during the ELS conflict.[5][13]

Armaments[]

  • GN Sword II Blaster
A new composite weapon created after the final battle with the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators.[2][3][7][10] The GN Sword II Blaster incorporated the latest technology and is meant to be used with the Seven Sword equipment.[4][5][6][10] It was developed using the GN-0000 00 Gundam's GN Sword II as its base, and has the same ability to switch between "Rifle Mode" and "Sword Mode".[3][10][14][15] However, the GN Sword II Blaster focused on functioning as a gun rather than a sword, thus it is not counted as the eighth sword even though it has the word "Sword" in its name.[3][5][6][10] The "/G" in the name "00 Gundam Seven Sword/G" stands for "Gun" and is a reference to this weapon.[3][5][6][7] The GN Sword II Blaster can function in all ranges, and it was adopted because the existing weapons could not fully utilized the abilities of Setsuna F. Seiei, who had awakened as an Innovator.[2][3][5][10] As a weapon exclusively for an Innovator, it boasts extremely high accuracy, and its power and range has infinite possibilities depending on the condition of the mobile suit and Setsuna.[2][3][5][10] During a firing test held in the space colony "Krung Thep", a single shot from this weapon penetrated twenty layers of E-Carbon, but did not cause any collateral damage due to calculations made by Setsuna.[3][5] The GN Sword II Blaster's true power during Trans-Am Mode is unknown, but it successfully destroyed a target over 1,000km away in a test where the Trans-Am Mode only lasted 0.03 seconds.[3][4][5] When not in use, the weapon can be mounted on the base of the right thruster cone located off the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G's right shoulder.[3][5][6][16]
  • GN Buster Sword II
Mounted on the left thruster cone located off the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G's left shoulder when not in use, the GN Buster Sword II can transform from a stored state to "GN Shield Mode" (also known simply as Shield Mode) and "GN Sword Mode" (also known simply as Sword Mode).[3][6][7][16] In Shield Mode, parts of the GN Buster Sword II can slide apart to reveal slits that release a large amount of GN Particles for the formation of a huge GN Field barrier.[3][5][6] The GN Field covers the entire front surface of the weapon, and although this barrier is only at the front, it can be used to protect nearby allied units.[5][6] In Sword Mode, it is a massive sword with top-class destructive power.[5][6] While the GN Buster Sword II used by the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G has identical appearance as that of the original 00 Gundam Seven Sword, it is actually a modified version as a Twin Drive stabilization system similar to that of the GNR-010 0 Raiser was installed in the weapon.[3][5][8][9] This made it possible for the mobile suit to use the Twin Drive System stably without combining with the 0 Raiser.[3][5]
  • GN Katar
Like the original 00 Gundam Seven Sword, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G mounts a pair of GN Katars on its knee armor.[3][5][8][9] The blade of this medium-sized sword can convert GN Particles into heat for melting through objects.[3][5][8][9] Theoretically, it is possible to attack with high temperatures that exceeded the limits of the blade's material.[5][6][8][9] The GN Katars are normally handheld when used[3][6][9],but it seemed that they can be used for knee strikes when mounted on the knees.[9]
  • GN Sword II Long
A handheld weapon that can switch between "Sword Mode" and "Rifle Mode" for melee and ranged combat respectively.[3][5][6][9] Its performance in Rifle Mode was enhanced compared to the GN Sword II's, but at the cost of higher particle consumption and reduced rapid fire performance.[3][5][6][9] The GN Sword II Long was the only weapon of the original 00 Gundam Seven Sword to be designed for long-ranged combat, and was retained in the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G.[3][5][8][9] However, when compared to the GN Sword II Blaster, the GN Sword II Long still focused more on functioning as a sword.[5] It is mounted on the right side skirt armor when not in use.[3][5][6]
  • GN Sword II Short
Another weapon carried over from the 00 Gundam Seven Sword, it is mounted on the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G's left side skirt armor when not in use.[3][5][8][9] The tip of the GN Sword II Short can be launched at the enemy and retracted using the built-in wire, allowing for repeated usage.[3][5][6][8] This wire also granted the weapon a wider variety of uses, such as entangling and pulling the enemy towards the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G.[3][5] Like the GN Sword II Long, the GN Sword II Short can switch between "Sword Mode" and "Rifle Mode".[3][6][9]
  • GN Beam Saber
As with the original 00 Gundam Seven Sword, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G stored a pair of GN Beam Sabers on its rear waist.[5][6][7][8] The beam blade emitted by the GN Beam Saber has high attack power, but atmospheric conditions and beam scattering/diffusion measures can reduce its power.[5][6][7][9] By adjusting its output and shortening the beam blade, this weapon becomes a GN Beam Dagger, which can be thrown to attack distant enemy.[5][6][7][9]

Special Equipment & Features[]

A system that comprised two original GN Drives, it is the most prominent feature of the GN-0000 00 Gundam.[7][15][17][18] By synchronizing two compatible GN Drives, the Twin Drive System can produce a GN Particle output that is squared that of a single GN Drive rather than merely doubled.[17][18][19][20] Unfortunately, the 00 was unable to stabilize the Twin Drive System by itself[18][21][22], and must combine with the GNR-010 0 Raiser support unit, which was equipped with a Twin Drive stabilization system, for full and stable operation of the Twin Drive.[2][3][5][12] For 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, combination with 0 Raiser is not required as the Twin Drive stabilization system was installed in the mobile suit's GN Buster Sword II.[2][3][5][9] However, the pair of compatible GN Drives were lost during the final battle with the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators.[1][7][11][12] As a result, alternative power sources to the two GN Drives were tested, such as a GN Drive plus a large GN Condenser, and two large GN Condensers.[2][4][5][6] The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was able to operate using both aforementioned methods, but they could not reproduce the Twin Drive System.[2][4][6] Eventually, Celestial Being mechanic, Sherilyn Hyde, developed improved version of the large GN Condenser that could reproduce the Twin Drive System when paired.[5][7][11][12] Such a system was also called “Twin Condenser System”.[11] When equipped with two large GN Condensers (improved version or not), the Twin Drive stabilization system in the GN Buster Sword II was used to enable power source related functions, such as the Trans-Am System.[5]
A system that when activated would fully release all the GN Particles accumulated in the Gundam, enhancing its mobility and defensive capabilities as well as boosting its output by three fold for a limited time.[18][23][24][25] Additionally, the entire Gundam appeared red and afterimages were generated when moving.[23][24][26] However, once Trans-Am ended, the Gundam's performance would drop as all its GN Particles were used up.[23][24][25][26] This negative effect would last until the stored GN Particles within the Gundam returned to normal level.[23][24] The 00 Gundam and its fellow new Gundams were designed on the premise of using the Trans-Am System actively, thus, the drop in performance would not be that severe.[7][18][26][27] Furthermore, these Gundams could deactivate the Trans-Am System at any time.[7][26] The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G equipped with a GN Drive plus a large GN Condenser was unable to use the Trans-Am System.[2][6] When equipped with two of the unimproved large GN Condensers, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G can use Trans-Am Mode, but only for a mere 0.03 seconds.[4][5] Following the development of improved version of the large GN Condenser that could reproduce the Twin Drive System, it became possible to use the Trans-Am System properly without GN Drive, but the duration of the Trans-Am Mode is still comparatively short.[5][11][12]

History[]

Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record Mission 001 "Gun X Sword"[]

Through her monitor, Sherilyn Hyde watched with excitement as the mobile suit she helped developed, the GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, activated and then flew around in space. On the other hand, Ian Vashti noted disappointingly that the Twin Drive System would only work when its two power sources are identical. Currently, 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was equipped with a GN Drive taken from another Gundam and a large GN Condenser. Despite the Twin Drive System being inoperable, as long as the mobile suit could move, it would serve as a deterrent to the world to a certain extent.

The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G then began the performance test of its new weapon. As a comparison, Ian had Setsuna F. Seiei fired the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G's GN Sword II Long first. After confirming the target was destroyed, Ian ordered Setsuna to switch to the new weapon – the GN Sword II Blaster, and the atmosphere immediately became tensed. Just as Setsuna was getting ready to fire the GN Sword II Blaster, he noticed an enemy unit and immediately reported it. But his voice was too soft, so Sherilyn and Ian initially could not decipher what he said. Setsuna then informed them the enemy might have seen the earlier beam shot, so he would be going ahead to destroy it.

Encountering an enemy in this space region was unusual, and although the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was still imperfect, Ian and Sherilyn had no other choice than to trust Setsuna. Setsuna fired the GN Sword II Blaster at the approaching GNX-609T GN-XIII and hit it twice. Based on its red color scheme, this GN-XIII was likely a machine from the disbanded A-Laws. Its pilot seemed to be one of the A-Laws' members that disobeyed the Earth Sphere Federation's disbandment orders and went rogue. The two mobile suits got closer and the battle quickly ended in victory for the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G.

Testing of the weapon in actual combat was unexpected, but GN Sword II Blaster demonstrated adequate performance. However, it did not perform as well as it should have, and Ian gloomily remarked that they needed the Twin Drive System after all. Ian understood that he should not be fixated on something he did not have, but as a mechanic, he could not tolerate an equipment underperforming. Unlike previous weapons, the GN Sword II Blaster was tuned to match Setsuna's abilities as an Innovator, and has infinite possibilities when operating at full power. Overall, the weapon was usable in combat, but Ian also felt the need to quicken development of the new Gundams.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record Mission 004 "0.03 Second"[]

In an empty space region outside of the Lagrange Points, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G pushed itself out of a transport ship and slowly made its way to the test location without using any verniers. The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was a substitute machine for Setsuna until his new GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] was completed, but it was not the only substitute machine, restoration of the GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser was also underway. However, GN Particle consumption issues caused by the use of a GN Drive plus a large GN Condenser, or two large GN Condensers, to replace the lost GN Drives resulted in testing of 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G being prioritized. This was because it was capable of fighting while minimizing particle consumption due to melee weapons making the bulk of its weaponry. The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was now equipped with two large GN Condensers to test whether the Trans-Am System could be activated using this setup.

As the test involved the emission of intense lights and huge amount of GN Particles, enemy forces would easily detect it. So, the test would only be conducted once and limited to 5 seconds to reduce the risk of detection. Ian had another unspoken concern. After the battle with the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators, a small number of people around the world seemed to have awakened as true Innovators, much like Setsuna. Their existence had yet to be confirmed, but if they did exist, there was a possibility they could detect regardless of distance the special state of GN Particles, like in Trans-Am. There were still many unknowns regarding Innovators, and Ian thought it was better to assume all possibilities. Since the Earth Sphere Federation Forces' mobile suits were now capable of using Trans-Am as well, the use of Trans-Am here might be mistaken as the ESFF's even when detected, but Ian felt it was unwise to rely solely on luck.

This test also served to discover the power of the new GN Sword II Blaster during Trans-Am Mode. A small asteroid placed over 1,000 km away served as the target. Theoretically, the weapon could shoot further, but if it hit the test target, there should not be any issue during actual combat. Setsuna activated Trans-Am, but it lasted only 0.03 seconds. Ian remarked that it was simply impossible with the large GN Condensers, and noted that under the same condition, the restored 00 Raiser equipped with large GN Condensers would have lasted longer. He wondered if this was a compatibility issue. He then checked the test results, and was shocked that Setsuna had fired the GN Sword II Blaster and destroyed the target within the 0.03 seconds Trans-Am. Ian was surprised by the abilities of an Innovator, and concluded that development of 00 Qan[T] must be sped up as that is the only machine worthy of Setsuna.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record Mission 010 "Inspection"[]

Sherilyn was glad the two GN Drives for the new 00 Qan[T] were produced successfully, but she was also slightly upset. If the 00 Qan[T] was completed, her work to improve the capabilities of the GN Condenser to be closer to those of the GN Drive would become less critical. While GN Condenser cannot produce GN Particles like the GN Drive, it is theoretically possible to enhance the performance of the GN Condenser to match that of the GN Drive when used as a mobile suit's power source. Sherilyn had succeeded in enabling the GN Condenser to activate the Trans-Am System for a very limited amount of time. Her current aim was to reproduce the Twin Drive System using two GN Condensers, or more accurately, to create a Twin Condenser System. Her research was progressing well, and although it was not combat ready, its practical deployment was within reach.

Sherilyn downloaded the data of a mobile suit used in simulation: the GN-0000GNHW/7SGD2 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection. This machine was created by Sherilyn to re-inspect the data of the actual 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, and it existed only in data form. The 00 Seven Sword/G Inspection had a red color scheme and Sherilyn increased its basic performance by 5% compared to the original. She felt that she could raise it further if she continued her research. At times, she found that it displayed performances that exceeded its data. She then pitted the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection against the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam, GN-007 Arios Gundam, GN-008 Seravee Gundam and GN-009 Seraphim Gundam, and it emerged victorious. Sherilyn believed that data from this machine would be useful in the future. With Celestial Being unable to mass produce GN Drive, research into improving the performance of the GN Condenser is necessary.

Variants[]

  • GN-0000GNHW/7SGD2 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection
Since operating the Gundams became risky in the aftermath of the conflicts with the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators, Celestial Being primarily relied on computer simulations using the quantum processing system Veda for research and development so as to minimize the number of physical tests with the Gundams.[11] Due to Veda's powerful computing power, these simulations were comparable to actual tests.[11] Using such a method, Celestial Being mechanic and Fereshte member, Sherilyn Hyde, created a double of the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G in Veda to re-inspect its data and simulate improvements to the mobile suit.[7][9][11][28] This double was called "GN-0000GNHW/7SGD2 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection", and it has no physical form.[7][9][3][11] The red colors of the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection was supposed to differentiate it from the original 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, but in truth, the color change was due to Sherilyn's personal preferences.[7][9][11][28]
The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection has the same weaponry as the original, but its basic performance was increased by 5% due to improvements made by Sherilyn.[7][3][11][28] At times, Sherilyn found the mobile suit displayed performance that exceeded its data.[11] She once conducted a simulation battle where it bested the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam, GN-007 Arios Gundam, GN-008 Seravee Gundam and GN-009 Seraphim Gundam.[11] Each of these Gundams had their own combat specialization, and 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection was able to match them in their specialized field.[11] Sherilyn believed that 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection's performance could be raised further with more research.[11] Unfortunately, its development was cancelled as completion of the GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] was in sight.[3][11][28]

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The maximum weight of the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was wrongly listed as "65.1t" (which is the same maximum weight as the 00 Gundam Seven Sword) on the side box and instruction manual of the HG00 model kit. With the Seven Sword/G equipment stated to have a weight of "13.5t", the maximum weight should be "68.4t" (13.5t + 00 Gundam's weight of 54.9t).
