The GAT-XX370 Boost Raider Gundam is a transformable Mobile Suit introduced in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Eclipse. It is piloted by Joel Jeanmaire-Giraud.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

This machine was designed to rival the ZGMF-X series, which included the highly successful ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam from the previous war, by merging the capabilities of the three 2nd GAT series units, which had seen some success against the ZGMF-X series, into a single composite type. Developed under the leadership of a defense contractor from the Blue Cosmos, an Atlantic Federation faction hostile to Coordinators, existing technology was utilized to hasten the development process, resulting in a chimeric design with abysmal maneuverability that rendered it uncontrollable by Natural pilots. Ironically, though built to combat Coordinators, only they could operate it, and its development was halted due to political and ideological reasons. Despite being deemed defective, it boasts formidable firepower, defense, and mobility. Its development data revealed flaws like the challenge of integrating all functions into a standard-sized mobile suit and the need for specialized pilot training, influencing the design of the GFAS-X1 Destroy Gundam.

Armaments[]

  • "Zorn" 100mm Energy Cannon
A short range energy cannon mounted in the suit's mouth, it is usable in both MA and MS mode.
  • "Mimir" Head Augmentation Optical Weapon Unit
A beam cannon mounted in the forehead that is capable of medium-range fire. It is also equipped with an amplifier for the "Zorn" 100mm energy cannon.
  • 52mm Hyper Velocity Cannon
While the original Raider Gundam wielded a firearm equipped with two 52mm Hyper Velocity Cannons, the Boost Raider has these cannons as fixed armaments installed on rotating side mounts on the left and right legs. Each leg is equipped with one 52mm Hyper Velocity Cannon.
  • M417 80mm Machine Gun
Mounted in the MA mode's nose and usable only in this mode. It is mainly used to restrict enemy's movements during dogfight, but also has sufficient power to damage non-PS armored units.
  • M2M3 76mm Machine Gun
Two machine guns installed in the shoulders and are usable only in MA mode.
  • "Schlag" 125mm High-energy Long-range Beam Cannon
Mounted on the backpack, this pair of beam cannons are the same as those equipped by the Calamity Gundam. The Boost Raider was originally designed to fight alongside several Aile Calamity Gunadms, so they were armed with common armaments.
  • "Eckzahn" 88mm Railgun
The same type of physical projectile weapon as used by the Forbidden Gundam, they are mounted on the backpack, below the "Schlag" 125mm High-energy Long-range Beam Cannon. Due to Boost Raider's output issue, only one railgun can be fired simultaneously with the other ranged beam weapons.
  • "Sarastro" Arm Claw
Mounted on both forearms, this composite weapon consisted of a shield, a large claw, and a short blade.
  • "Adler" Combined Aerial Combat Armament
The same handheld armament as used by the Aile Calamity. It has four different configurations, and can be used for both melee and ranged combat.

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • "Geschmiedigung" Energy Deflection Mechanism
Anti-beam defense system derived from the Forbidden Gundam's "Geschmeidig Panzer", two units are mounted on the side skirt armor. When in use, they unfold and are positioned in front of the Boost Raider to deflect enemy beam shots. The Boost Raider cannot use this system simultaneously with any ranged beam weapon.
  • Magnetic Field Generator
