Establishment of official rules & regulations[]

People, there are alot of concerns on the Gundam Wiki, some of these include

  • Editing choices-How editors are modifying articles, grammar choices, etc.
  • Creation of pages-How editors create pages and back them up with information
  • Sourcing-On MS pages, though MAHQ is cited as a link, it's still a good practice not to copy/paste
  • Responding to editors requests-Other users shouldn't ignore admin requests, comments, etc.

So, should we start the write-up of a official rules and regulations guide for the Gundam Wiki? Taking into account that I don't want to restrict this wiki down to...lets say 15-20 editors only (most of them being senior editors) and leave it a basic open door for fans of Gundam, but you also don't want users that will randomly create pages without justification. And should we have a smoother process in terms of banning people, like some sort of ban level based on the severity of the infraction? So, is anyone in favor of establishing a more stringent & real set of rules & regulations that users must follow but will not discourage new users from coming in?Gaeaman 788 - pilot of the RB-79/FS Ball Full Saber 08:20, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

I think we need some serious set of rules, since Taikage can't get to all the "Bad" pages and delete them and delete unneeded photos, it takes too much time. We should join together and create a thick set of rules that don't have loopholes :/, then Taikage can link new editors to in his admin welcome message. -Dav7d2 - The ChroniK Editor! 08:32, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

One small little thing I would like to add, although it may not seem very important. A link to the Gundam Fanon wiki, for fan made articles. We've had a few cases of fan made articles come up before, and I feel it would be a good idea to have a link to the above wiki, so these editors of such articles can be directed there.

Not that I'm a senior editor or anything... But personally I'd like to see some clarification regarding images- specifically, is fanart (for mobile suits especially since they seem to get the most dumped on their pages) allowed on pages or not? Personally, I don't think it should be, as that kinda opens the floodgates for basically anyone to toss their fanart on a page. If the art didn't come from an official Sunrise/Bandai-related source (ie the primary source, or Gundam ACE, or magazine articles about the subject), I don't think they should be allowed. Also, it'd be nice to have another Admin, yeah, for deleting unnecessary pages and images at least. Kit-chan 03:11, March 8, 2011 (UTC)

I put up a link for Gundam Fanon Wiki on the Main Page. I mean, most of the instances of fanmade Gundams have just been minor misunderstandings on where to go to do fanart and the fact that the Fanon wiki doesn't have as much notoriety as the Gundam Wiki. Kit, you essentially are a senior editor in my opinion since you've overhauled the Wing series. This also brings into question of what do we do about the CG generated images we used previously for the 00 series, should those go too? Since they are unnoficial fanart I think they should go. We do need more admins to get rid of useless pages and stuff and for other editors to report bad editors to. This also brings up the question of who should get admin and how many people should get it. I mean, we can't leave it to just one person, because all the old founders are gone, Simant's basically gone, Taikage is kinda fading, and there are about 10-12 active editors. So I think we should make up a list of people who we think should be admins and give our list to Sarah Manley who is the admin of admins.
