Kenneth Sleg (ケネス・スレッグ?) is a fictional character from the the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash novel.

History[]

Colonel Kenneth Sleg, formerly assigned to weapons research and development, reorganizes the Kimberly task force into the "Circe Unit." He has the peculiar habit of wielding a riding crop. He becomes acquainted with Hathaway Noa and Gigi Andalucia during a hijacking attempt on the shuttle Haunzen at the beginning of the story. He forms a connection with Hathaway in the wake of this incident as, while he believes Hathaway's pursuits as a botanist, Hathaway's ability to resort to violence was not to be underestimated. However, in his battles against Mafty, Kenneth is anguished when he realizes that the organization's leader is Hathaway himself and succeeds in stopping the Ξ Gundam's attack in Adelaide.

Following the battle, he is disgusted when the Federation's surviving cabinet sentences Hathaway to death without trial as a scarecrow for dissenting thoughts. His resignation is accepted under the condition that he personally oversees Hathaway's execution though he cannot bring himself to meet Hathaway for the final time. On the day of Hathaway's execution, Kenneth is surprised to learn that his succeeding officer, Hathaway's father, Bright Noa was called to help conduct the execution. Kenneth would attempt to conceal Mafty's true identity, shifting the topic to the Ξ Gundam instead, but Bright commented that while he had seen several Gundams fall throughout his career, the rebellious spirits of their pilots had never truly died.

Unfortunately, Kenneth's efforts were wasted after the betrayal of his senior officers. The Federation government opts to publicly reveal Hathaway as Mafty, and used the media to glorify Bright's execution order of his own son. Angered by this decision and subsequent glorification of Hathaway's execution, he later rendezvoused with Gigi in Kyushu, Japan, where Hathaway was born, with him remarking that "he could set up a similar organization one day".
