The RGM-89R Jegan Fireball is a variant of the RGM-89R Jegan A-Type introduced in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam F91 Silhouette Formula.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The Jegan Fireball is essentially a RGM-89R Jegan A-Type with minor changes. Its right forearm was equipped with an arm-mounted grenade launcher, similar to the left forearm's. Additionally, it is equipped with a new backpack that has two large thrusters, two medium thrusters and a pair of vernier arms at the top similar to the A-Type's original backpack. Articulated angled fins were also installed over the backpack's thrusters. The Jegan Fireball was known to have an "MC System", but little is known about this system.

Armaments[]

  • Vulcan Pod System
A rapid-fire, close-range armament mounted on the left side of the Jegan Fireball's head. Low offensive power, only used to restrict enemy movement, and lay down a wall of suppressive fire. The Jegan Fireball's Vulcan Pod system appears identical to that of the RGM-89R Jegan A-Type's.
  • Twin Grenade Launcher
Equipped on both forearms, unlike the Jegan A-Type which was only equipped with a twin grenade launcher on the left forearm.
  • Beam Saber
A beam weapon for close combat. It is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and can cut through any armor not treated with anti-beam coating. Like the A-Type, the Jegan Fireball has two beam sabers, one stored in each side armor.

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • MC System
Details unknown. From the operator's statement, it was presumed to have been working properly during the test.

History[]

The Jegan Fireball was piloted by Iris Orlando's father in a performance test conducted in February of U.C. 0112 in North America. Unfortunately, the machine's backpack malfunctioned and overheated beyond manageable levels during the test, and Captain Orlando was killed in the ensuing explosion that also destroyed the mobile suit.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • In the story, it is called "Fireball", but it is unclear whether this is the name of the mobile suit, a nickname, or the pilot's call sign.
