The MSZ-000 Zero Shiki is a mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Define manga.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The Zero Shiki is a general purpose prototype mobile suit which is developed from the data obtained on the RMS-099 Rick Dias. The model shares aesthetics from the Rick Dias as well as some design features seen in the MSN-001 Delta Gundam. The first Zero Shiki unit is piloted by Quattro Bajeena and features a pair of back binders not unlike the Rick Dias's Booster Binders. The second Zero Shiki is piloted by Amuro Ray, and while at first it has the binders, they are replaced with a flight unit that allows the mobile suit to fly within the atmosphere. Char's unit also receive the flight unit later on.

Armaments[]

  • 60mm Vulcan Gun
On the sides of Zero Shiki's head mounts a pair of 60mm Vulcan Guns. These shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire, but little power and are generally ineffective against mobile suits; however, they can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors. They are also ideal for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles, small vehicles, etc.
  • Beam Saber
The beam saber is a small cylindrical device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and is capable of cutting through any metal not treated with anti-beam coating. The Zero Shiki has 2 beam sabers stored on the rear-waist armor.
  • Beam Rifle
The standard ranged armament of many mobile suits is the beam rifle. The particle beam fired from such a rifle can penetrate almost any armor that has not been treated with specific counter-measures. The Zero Shiki's beam rifle feeds from the same type of E-Pac as the Rick Dias's BP-L-86 Beam Pistol.
  • Beam Cannon
The Zero Shiki's flight unit is armed with a pair of beam cannons. The flight unit can swivel over the Zero Shiki's shoulder so as to fire the beam cannons.

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • Ballute System
The ballute is a bowl-shaped ballute (balloon parachute) deploys to protect the mobile suit from the friction heat of atmospheric entry. After it has done its job, the ballute detaches, leaving the mobile suit with chest and leg hover units which ease its descent to the ground. If the mobile suit reaches the ground without expending all the fuel in the leg units, these devices can also be used for hovering and high-speed strike missions. The equipment was designed and mass produced between the years UC 0083 and 0087 and is designed to be used by a multitude of different mobile suit models.

History[]

The Zero Shiki's development staff was led by Edward Labun, who participated in Operation V as an engineer. Sumire Hongoh, an old acquaintance of Char Aznable, was also member of the development staff and introduced the Zero Shiki to Char when he visited Granada under the alias Quattro Bajeena. The Zero Shiki was given to Char and stationed on board the Anti Earth Union Group's Argama-class carrier Argama. Amuro Ray later received the second unit when he joined the Karaba.
