Karius Otto (カリウス・オットー, Kariusu Ottō^?) , is a character that appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory OVA.

Personality & Character

Karius is a young man with a calm personality. Utterly loyal to Gato, he shares with him a desire to not just seek revenge but also justify their fallen comrades sacrifice during the One Year War.

History

Karius was a pilot in the Principality of Zeon who served under Anavel Gato in the 302nd Patrol Squadron of the Space Attack Force during the One Year War. Other than Gato, he was the sole surviving member of the unit. Led by Gato, he participated in the defense of A Baoa Qu. After landing at Gwaden with Gato's machine, which was hit by a bomb, he left the battlefield in accordance with Aiguille Delaz's orders to retreat.

After the talks at Karama Point, he wished to remain in the Earth's sphere, and later went into hiding on Side 6. In the Delaz Conflict, he participated in the attack on the Navel Review, and in the final phase, when the Earth Federation Forces on the moon were approaching Earth orbit, he urged Gato to join the Axis advance fleet, but Gato wanted to settle things with Kou Uraki, so he received an escape pod with Nina Purpleton on it from Gato, joined the Axis advance fleet, and escaped to the Axis. After that, his whereabouts are unknown.

Other Media

In the game "SD Gundam G Generation-F.I.F," several years after "Operation Stardust," there is a fictional war scenario in which he becomes a major and boards the Axis nuclear weapon equipped mobile suit AMX-017 Gigantic to launch a nuclear attack on Jaburo.

• Karius Otto's Japanese voice actor, Nobuo Tobita, has appeared in several other Gundam series, including Kamille Bidan in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Ulube Ishikawa in Mobile Fighter G Gundam and Lasker Alesi in Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS.
• Karius initially did not have a surname in the credits of the OVA. He has the surname "Otto" in Gundam War, Gundam Cross War, SD Gundam G Generation and Super Robot Wars.
  • This suggests he may be based on Otto Carius, a German WWII Panzer Ace.
