The FD-03-00 Gustav Karl Type-00[1][2] is a mass-produced general purpose mobile suit appearing in Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

A mass-produced mobile suit deployed by the Earth Federation Forces in U.C. 0105. With a head height of 22 meter, it is considered large among mass production mobile suits. During the transition from the early deployment units seen in U.C. 0096, its frame structure and other features have been completely overhauled and improved. Its model number has also been updated from Type-13 to Type-00.[2]

Armaments

  • Vulcan Gun
The Gustav Karl Type-00 has a single vulcan gun mounted on the left side of its head.
  • 2-tube Grenade Launcher
Mounted on the left forearm, the grenades fired are moderately powerful self-propelling explosives that can deal significant damage to a mobile suit.
  • Beam Rifle
Like its predecessor, the Gustav Karl uses the same beam rifle as the RGM-89 Jegan. It can be mounted on a weapon latch on the right side of the back when not in use.
  • Beam Saber
The standard close range armament for most mobile suits, it is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. The beam saber emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and can cut through most armor not treated with anti-beam coating. The Gustav Karl is equipped with two beam sabers stored in the side armor.
  • Bazooka
The standard issue bazooka used by Federation mobile suits first seen in U.C. 0096. It can be mounted on a weapon latch on the right side of the back when not in use.

Notes & Trivia

  • The Gustav Karl Type-00 is based on the design of the Gustav Karl first seen in SD Gundam G Generation F.
  • Unlike its predecessor, the Type-00 is equipped with a rod antenna on the left side of the head. This is a reference to the head design of the Dora Karl, which was said to be the standard variant of the Gustav Karl in the G Generation design document, with Gustav Karl being the commander variant.
