The F90 A to Z PROJECT is a cross-media design series of new designs and variations of designs for Mission Packs for the Premium Bandai MG F90 Gundam F90, which was released in 2019 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of P-Bandai.
“ | A new project that unravels mission packs from A to Z using Master Grade models. In addition to each mission pack drawn by Kunio Okawara at the time of the aircraft's announcement, we started by drawing up new settings with Kunio Okawara's full cooperation in order to create three-dimensional versions of packs that have not yet been seen. Complementing these mission packs that have not yet been revealed, we will unravel the truth behind the "Formula Plan" in this new era.[1] | ” |
Story[]
In order to return to the origin of MS as "general-purpose humanoid weapons," the development of mobile weapons called the F series, including the F90, was developed with a new concept. The F series was developed by the Strategic Naval Research Institute (SNRI). In U.C. 0111, they participated in the development of the Earth Federation Forces' next main MS, and held a competition with Anaheim Electronics. Initially, their headquarters was on Earth, but in UC120 the headquarters was moved to Frontier Side (New Side 4). SNRI proposed the "F (Formula) Plan," and as part of that plan, a miniature MS called the F90 was developed.
The F90 model was innovative in its design, which aimed to return to the origins of MS by eliminating internal weapons other than the head Vulcan Gun. This made it possible to reduce size and weight, achieving high mobility, and successfully reduce production costs. On the other hand, regarding armament, it is premised that additional optional equipment called a "mission pack" will be used. This utilized 11 hard points located throughout the frame, and mission packs from A to Z were planned. By replacing these mission packs, it was designed to be able to operate as an all-range MS capable of responding to any combat situation or strategy.
Although the F90 was officially adopted by the Earth Federation Forces, it was only treated as a one-design machine for performance verification. To improve usability and productivity it is necessary to mass produce it. Full-scale test operations of each mission pack began in U.C. 0112, and from U.C. 0120, multiple aircraft have been deployed on actual battlefields, such as being operated by the 13th Experimental Combat Group for data collection.
Afterwards, modifications were made based on the V Type, and an improved model, the F91, was born. This F91 is a famous machine known for its role in the "Cosmo Babylonia Founding War" that broke out in U.C. 123. However, it can be said that the "F Plan", which aimed to return to the origin through SNRI, and its demonstration model, the F90 model, played a huge role in its creation.[2]
