The F90T Gundam F90 Tracer Type (F90T ガンダムF90トレーサータイプ F90T Gandamu F90 Torēsātaipu?) (aka Gundam F90 T-Type) is a variant of the F90 Gundam F90 featured in the F90 A to Z PROJECT.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The T (Tracer) Type is a large mission pack that gives the F90 outstanding defensive power, firepower, and explosive acceleration. This loadout features large shields on both shoulders and a long-range propulsion device on the back, and shares common features with the A-Type, which was also intended for pursuit battles.[1]
The shields attached to the hard points on both shoulders are made from parts that were being developed for the F90, and are coated with anti-beam coating. In addition, the use of a simple movable frame and dedicated arm allows it to move flexibly, covering the main body without hindering the movement of both arms. Furthermore, it is equipped with a double beam gun inside the shield, increasing its firepower.[1]
The long-distance propulsion device on the back was hastily developed based on the A-Type's propellant tank. Consisting of a large booster and left and right vernier units, it was designed to improve acceleration and mobility. This equipment is said to be based on the Titans' variable MS and the GP series, which had been erased from records, and seems to have been intended to explore new possibilities for MS.[1]
Armaments[]
- 60mm Vulcan Gun
- A pair of shell-firing weapon built into the head. Though not powerful, its high rate of fire meant it was employed to intercept enemy missiles/units, as warning shots, and to destroy lightly armored targets.
- Beam Saber
- The beam saber is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when deployed and powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits high-energy Minovsky particles to form a blade-shaped I-field, and then fills this I-field shell with super-heated Minovsky particle plasma to produce an effective cutting blade. The F90 has two beam sabers stored in recharge racks on the backpack.
- Beam Rifle
- The standard Beam Rifle of the Gundam F90, it has more power than other contemporary beam rifles. It uses an E-pack system, and the E-pack inserted into the back of the rifle becomes the gunstock. Spare E-packs can be carried on the side skirt's hardpoints, and the beam rifle can be stowed on the rear skirt's weapon rack.
- Large Shield
- Part of the T-Type mission pack, these large shields are attached to the hard points on both shoulders by movable arms which allow them to reposition, covering more of the main body without hindering the motion of both arms. They are treated with an anti-beam coating and also feature verniers.
- Double Beam Gun
- A double beam gun is located on the inside of both large shields.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Hardpoint
- The F90 has eleven hardpoints for mounting its Mission Packs. The T-Type mission pack normally occupies only three of these hardpoints, leaving nine free to mount additional equipment, such as spare E-packs for the beam rifle or other weaponry, or additional large capacity propellant tanks. These hardpoints are covered when not in use.
- Weapon Rack
- The F90 has a weapon rack on its rear skirt armor for storing handheld weapons such as the Beam Rifle. The weapon rack can also be used for mounting parts of certain Mission Packs.
- Long-Range Propulsion Device
- A large booster which is part of the T-Type mission pack. It mounts onto the backpack hardpoint and is capable of explosive acceleration for pursuit battles, and also has two smaller vernier units mounted onto both sides for added maneuverability. Four of the same type of large capacity propellant tanks used by the F90 A-Type are mounted onto the long-range propulsion device to extend its range.
- 8000 Series Neurocomputer
- A fifth-generation Non-Von Neumann computer that is the main control computer of the F90. It was installed due to the need for a powerful computing system to control a high performance machine. Besides controlling the mobile suit, it can control all the Mission Packs as well. It is the first MS-based computer to have a holo-cube processing system with more than one million synaptic processors, but it cannot be programmed in the usual way, so a pseudo-personality knowledge base is configured on the processors, and it is programmed by synaptic connections through repeated simulations against an learning computer installed with data of past mobile suit battles.
- Type-C.A-III Pseudo-Personality Computer
- Installed on Unit 2, it not only assists with control of the Mission Packs, but also improves the mobile suit's mobility. This causes the Unit 2 to be 3 times faster than existing mobile suit. It is also said to have more battle experience than Type-A.R. Though never confirmed, it is heavily implied that its programming was based on the pseudo-personality of Char Aznable.
- Type-K.B Pseudo-Personality Computer
- Installed on Unit 3, it not only assists with control of the Mission Packs, but also improves the mobile suit's melee movements such as kick and punch.[2] In addition, it also allows Unit 3 to equip up to 4 mission packs and can simplify their controls, enabling the pilot to operate 4 mission packs simultaneously.[3] It also had a stricter reaction time than A.R & C.A type. Though never confirmed, it is heavily implied that its programming was based on the pseudo-personality of Kamille Bidan.[2]
History[]
Mobile Suit Gundam F90: Fastest Formula[]
In. U.C. 0116, a Gundam F90 T-Type mission pack were used by F90 Gundam F90 Unit 3 piloted by Dir Rider, during the Side 4 Frontier 1 Terrorist Attack.[4] This unit was seen patroling near the Frontier 1 colony and encountered a MSA-120 Draig ACTIVE while it was rescued two RGM-111Y2 G Customs. Just after the Gundam enocuntered the Draig, it immediately escaped using its mega boost and the Gundam pilot decided to let it escape.[4]
Sometimes after that, another Gundam F90 T-Type mission pack were used by F90 Gundam F90 Unit 2 piloted by Kanata Sawame, during a rebellion in Side 1 Colony 107 Bharat. This unit was used against the local defense forces which comprised of several MSA-005 Methuss and RMS-099B Schuzrum Dias, and thanks to the C.A. III Pseudo OS it was able to outperform the experienced pilot of the local defense forces and take them out singelandedly. [5]

Notes & Trivia[]
- The design of F90 Tracer Pack was inspired by a few Gryps Conflict era MS.
- The shield binders functionally similiar to the ORX-005 Gaplant, while the design is based on FA-178 Full Armor Gundam Mk-II
