The F90Q Gundam F90 Quick Type (F90Q ガンダムF90クイックタイプ F90Q Gandamu F90 Kuikkutaipu?), aka Gundam F90 Q-Type, is a variant of the F90 Gundam F90 featured in the F90 A to Z PROJECT.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Q (Quick) Type is one type of Mission Pack designed for the purpose of improving the F90's high maneuverability and agility. With the addition of vernier/apogee motors to the legs, hips, shoulders, etc., and the addition of a propulsion device to the backpack, it succeeded in obtaining excellent mobility in evaluation tests. In particular, the data obtained by adding the apogee motors, along with the main unit's operational data, is said to have greatly contributed to the development of its successor, the F91.[1]
A feature of the Q-Type is the innovative propulsion device developed for the backpack. It is in the shape of a binder, and the standard is to have two propulsors on each side, but it is also possible to add more of this same type of thruster using hard points, or to reduce the number depending on the circumstances. Also, thrusters that were no longer needed could be separated and ejected, and it is said that they could also make for effective mass weapons.[1]
Armaments[]
- 60mm Vulcan Gun
- A pair of shell-firing weapon built into the head. Though not powerful, its high rate of fire meant it was employed to intercept enemy missiles/units, as warning shots, and to destroy lightly armored targets.
- Beam Saber
- The beam saber is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when deployed and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits high-energy Minovsky particles to form a blade-shaped I-field (via manipulation of electromagnetic fields), and then fills this I-field shell with superheated Minovsky particle plasma to produce an effective cutting blade. The F90 Q-Type has two beam sabers stored on the backpack.
- Beam Rifle
- A specialized beam rifle with more power than the standard beam rifles of the time, it uses an E-pack system, and the E-pack inserted into the back of the rifle becomes the gunstock. Spare E-packs can be carried on the side skirt's hardpoints, and the beam rifle itself can be stored on the rear skirt's weapon rack.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Hardpoint
- The F90 has eleven hardpoints for mounting the Mission Packs, sets of optional equipment and armaments to meet specific needs or combat situations. The Q-Type mission pack occupies nine of these hardpoints, leaving only two free to mount additional equipment, such as spare E-packs for the beam rifle or other weaponry. These hardpoints are covered when not in use.
- Weapon Rack
- The F90 has a weapon rack on its rear skirt armor for storing handheld weapons such as the Beam Rifle. The weapon rack can also be used for mounting parts of certain Mission Packs.
- 8000 Series Neurocomputer
- A fifth-generation Non-Von Neumann computer that is the main control computer of the F90. It was installed due to the need for a powerful computing system to control a high performance machine. Besides controlling the mobile suit, it can control all the Mission Packs as well. It is the first MS-based computer to have a holo-cube processing system with more than one million synaptic processors, but it cannot be programmed in the usual way, so a pseudo-personality knowledge base is configured on the processors, and it is programmed by synaptic connections through repeated simulations against a learning computer installed with data of past mobile suit battles.
