The F90O Gundam F90 Officer Type (aka Gundam F90 O-Type) is a variant of the F90 Gundam F90 introduced in the F90 A to Z PROJECT.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The F90O Gundam F90 Officer Type is one of the many mission packs developed for the F90 Gundam F90 by the Strategic Naval Research Institute. The Gundam F90 O-Type was developed for use by commanders and officers, and improvements have been made accordingly to its command capabilities. A composite unit consisting of two vulcan guns and large blade antennas have been added to the backpack. This unit improves communication capabilities and the ability to restrict movement of enemy units, and enables the commander-use mobile suit to quickly analyze the state of a battle and conduct appropriate operations. With the addition of the composite unit, the backpack was also modified. The two beam sabers stored on it have been moved to a mount latch attached to the left side skirt's hardpoint with an additional pair on the opposing side. The O-Type also equips an enhanced beam rifle which possesses two firing modes.[1]

Armaments[]

  • Vulcan Gun
A pair of shell-firing weapon built into the head. Though not powerful, its high rate of fire meant it was employed to intercept enemy missiles/units, as warning shots, and to destroy lightly armored targets. The F90 O-Type is also equipped with an additional pair of vulcan guns on the composite unit mounted on top of the backpack.
  • Beam Saber
The beam saber is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when deployed and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits high-energy Minovsky particles to form a blade-shaped I-field (via manipulation of electromagnetic fields), and then fills this I-field shell with superheated Minovsky particle plasma to produce an effective cutting blade. The F90 O-Type is equipped with four beam sabers, with a pair stored on the mount latch attached to each side skirt's hardpoint.
  • Enhanced Beam Rifle
The F90 O-Type uses a new beam rifle model that possesses two firing modes. The normal mode emphasizes rapid fire, while the high output mode, during which the barrel extends, emphasizes destructive power. Since the two modes can be switched freely, it is possible for the O-Type to respond to various battle situations, such as fire support from the rear and fighting on the front line.
  • Beam Rifle
The F90 O-Type can also be equipped with the Gundam F90's standard beam rifle, which is powered by a replaceable E-pack located at the weapon's rear.
  • Shield
The same defensive equipment as used by the Gundam F90, it increases the F90 O-Type's defensive capability and can be mounted on the left forearm or handheld. This shield is strong and light due to the use of new materials, and two spare E-packs for the beam rifle or enhanced beam rifle can be stored on the back.

History[]

In. U.C. 0115, the F90 Gundam F90 Unit 2 equipped with O-Type mission pack was assigned to the Space Ark-class Fairlady. Piloted by Gideon Brondan of the Fastest Formula Corps, the Gundam F90 Officer Type was testing its equipment while on a space pirates mopping up operation. Suddenly, the Gundam F90 Officer Type and its teammates, consisting of a F70 Cannon Gundam and a RGM-109 Heavygun, were attacked by the MSA-120 Draig. The Cannon Gundam and the Heavygun were quickly defeated, and while the Gundam F90 Officer Type was able to keep up with the Draig for a while, but the enemy pilot proved to be more skillful than Gideon. In the end, the Gundam F90 Officer Type survived due to the intervention of a RGM-109 Heavygun Full Equipment Type piloted by Dir Rider, as well as a mysterious sniper.[2]
