The F90E Gundam F90 Electronic Type (aka Gundam F90 E-Type) is a variant of the F90 Gundam F90 introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam F90, and was later redesigned in 2019 for P-Bandai's F90 A to Z Project.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The F90E Gundam F90 Electronic Type is one of the many mission packs developed for the F90 Gundam F90 by the Strategic Naval Research Institute. The Gundam F90 Electronic Type, or E-Type for short, is designed for electronic warfare and to gather intelligence on enemy forces and bases, so as to guide allied forces to an advantage in combat. A large radome is mounted on the back, granting it high intelligence gathering capabilities. Additionally, its shoulders and waist are equipped with different radar equipment for use in electronic warfare. It also carries in its hand a jamming rifle to interrupt radio waves. The Gundam F90 Electronic Type is often deployed on its own, ahead of its allies. As its equipment is unsuitable for combat, evasion/withdrawal is prioritized when faced with enemy forces.[1]

Armaments[]

  • Vulcan Gun
A pair of shell-firing weapon built into the head. Though not powerful, its high rate of fire meant it was employed to intercept enemy missiles/units, as warning shots, and to destroy lightly armored targets.
  • Beam Saber
The beam saber is the standard close-combat weapon of many mobile suits, it emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-field that can cut through any physical armor that have not been treated to resist it. The beam saber is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor, and the F90 E-Type is equipped with two beam sabers stored on the backpack. Present only on the redesigned version.
  • Jamming Rifle
A handheld directional jamming weapon that can flood the sensors of enemy mobile suits with radio waves, and even fed them with false data. Present only on the redesigned version.
  • Shield
A piece of equipment that increases the Gundam F90's defensive capability, it is mounted on the left forearm or handheld. The Gundam F90's shield is strong and light due to the use of new materials. Present only on the redesigned version.
  • Machine Gun
One of the optional armaments that can be mounted on the forearms. Present only on the original version.
  • Shot Lancer
One of the optional armaments that can be mounted on the forearms. Present only on the original version.

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • Radome
A large disk-shaped radome mounted on the backpack, granting the F90 E-Type high intelligence gathering capabilities. Present only on the redesigned version.
  • Electronic Warfare Radar
These radars are in two different designs and are mounted on the shoulders and front skirt armor. Present only on the redesigned version.

History[]

In U.C. 0112, the F90 Gundam F90 Unit 2 and the E-Type mission pack were assigned to a Clop-class. Piloted by Patsy Angelika, the F90 E-Type was used in a mock between RGZ-95 ReZEL and RGM-109 Heavygun squadron. During the battle, the F90 E-Type jammed the ReZELs' sensors and fed them false data, contributing to the Heavygun squadron's victory.[2]

When a rebellion occurred in Side 1 Colony 107 Bharat in U.C. 0115, Dir Rider's Gundam F90 Unit 3 was equipped with parts from both the E-Type and N-Type mission packs, resulting in the "F90 Gundam F90 NE-Type". The F90 NE-Type served as an EWAC unit for the Fastest Formula Corps, and caused electronic jamming throughout the colony, disrupting the electronic equipment of enemy mobile suits. After the battle, the F90 NE-Type was used to recover data from an abandoned OMS-1004 Tigris II, unveiling a large conspiracy.[3]

Variants[]

  • F90 Gundam F90 NE Type
Featured in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam F90: Fastest Formula, it is the F90 Gundam F90 Unit 3 equipped with a combination of parts from the N-Type and E-Type mission packs, alongside the F90's standard armaments. The F90 NE-Type can cause electronic jamming in a large area, such as an entire space colony, hindering the proper functioning of enemy's electronic equipment. It also had the capabilities to access and recover combat data from enemy mobile suit, even data that was previously purged.[3]
