The F80 Gunraid (commonly referred as F80) is a mass production mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation's Strategic Naval Research Institute and was introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Cluster manga. ==Technology & Combat Characteristics== The F80 Gunraid is a mass production mobile suit developed as part of the SNRI's Formula project with the aim of mass-producing the F90 Gundam F90 for Earth Federation Forces' RGM-X project. Due to being a mass production model, the F80 omitted many experimental features such as micro-honeycomb armor, holo-cube computer, but retains the 11 hardpoints from the F90. Additionally it also used F70 Cannon Gundam's movable frame and standardized components in order to achieve compatibility with EFF's mainstay MS of its time, such as RGM-109 Heavygun & F71 G Cannon. Thanks to that the F80 had high performance, while also capable to use F90 mission packs or F70 type backpack if situation demands. Despite its high performance, the F80 overall performance was inferior compared to its predecessor. This was caused by cost cutting effort that significantly reduced its mobility, slower reaction time, and increased weight. The removal of holo-cube computer also caused swapping mission packs on the field impractical, as its operating system needed to be reconfigured each time. Even though its a mass-production model, the production cost to make each unit is more expensive compared to Anaheim's RGM-119X Proto Jamesgun and RGM-111 Hardygun and that reason what makes it failed to enter full production. Because of that only 16 units were made, and most of them are distributed to special forces such as ECOAS, EFF Marine Corps and Private Military Contractors such as the Death Guns. ==Armaments== ;*Vulcan Gun :A pair of physical projectile firing armament built into the head. Though not powerful, its high rate of fire meant it was employed to intercept incoming missiles, etc. ;*Beam Saber :The standard close range armament for most mobile suits, it is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. The beam saber emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and can cut through most armor not treated with anti-beam coating. ;*Beam Rifle :A similar beam rifle model used by F90 Gundam F90 with more power than the standard beam rifles of the time, it uses an E-pack system, and the E-pack inserted into the back of the rifle becomes the gunstock. Spare E-packs can be carried on the side skirt's hardpoints, and the beam rifle itself can be stored on the rear skirt's weapon rack. ;*Short Beam Rifle :A shortened version of Gundam F90 beam rifle that boast high rate of fire. ;*Shotgun :A semi automatic shotgun that fires physical rounds. ;* Mega Beam Bazooka : A handheld anti-fortress weapon, this is the same armament as used by the Gundam F90 Assault Type. It is powered by an E-Pac at the rear. ;*Shield :A single-plate solid shield designed specifically for this mobile suit. It can be mounted on the left forearm, handheld, or stored on the backpack hardpoint. The F80's shield is strong and light due to the use of new materials. In addition the shield also had integrated missile launcher for additional firepower. ;* Triple Machine Cannon : A pair of back mounted machine cannons used also by F70 Cannon Gundam mounted on F70 type backpack. These triple barreled cannons can fire physical projectiles rapidly. These cannons can be removed if the situation demands it or the cannon was damaged during combat. ;* Beam Cannon : A pair of beam cannon mounted on F70 type backpack. These beam cannons are typically directly powered by the F80's generator. ==Special Equipment & Features== ;*Hardpoints :The F80 has 11 hardpoints for mounting the Mission Packs, sets of optional equipment and armaments, to meet specific needs or combat situations. The locations of these hardpoints are: two on top of the shoulder armor, one on the backpack, two on the sides of the forearms, two on the front skirt armor, two on the side skirt armor, and two on the sides of the legs. These hardpoints are covered when not in use. The attached Mission Packs can be exchanged, making the F80 extremely versatile. There are potentially as many as 26 Mission Packs. The hardpoints can also be used for mounting spare E-packs of the Beam Rifle or other ranged beam weaponry. *Weapon Rack :The F80 has a weapon rack on its rear skirt armor for storing handheld weapons such as the Beam Rifle. The weapon rack can also be used for mounting parts of certain Mission Packs. *Anti-Beam Manteu (Death Guns Specifications) :The F80 used by Death Guns could be equipped with early version of anti-beam manteu that had been treated with an anti-beam coating. Functionally similar to the old physical shields that had received the same treatment, and it was used to protect the mobile suit from beam shots. With its size it could completely cover the mobile suit, with the exception of the head, providing full body protection. However, despite its advantages, the Manteau has two disadvantages. First, unlike a beam shield the Manteau can only handle about 1 shots before the coating wears off, rendering the Manteau to a simple cloth. The second disadvantage is that the Manteau significantly hinders the F80 thrusters making it less ideal to use. == System Features == ;*Death Haunt Screw (Death Guns Specifications) :A special operating system called the "Death Haunt Screw" that cause the F80 emit light from its joints after its limiters were removed, which dramatically increased the MS performance on par against specialized Newtype MS. ==History== In UC 0121, three F80 unit was used by the Death Guns mercenary group during the First Oldsmobile War on Mars. These units were tasked with the capture of the second unit of OMS-90R2 Mars Gundam in the Oldsmobile Army's Olympus Mons fortress, and manage to destroy defending MS along the way. Shortly after, the Death Guns' F80 manage to corner the Mars Gundam, but the sudden appearance of an unknown space fighter changed the tide of battle. The arrival of unknown space fighter enhanced the Mars Gundam's performance and forced the Death Gun's F80 to use its "Death Haunt Screw" against the enhanced Mars Gundam, but the fight was cut short when they were rescued by Lord Dyaus in his RGM-111 Hardygun and escaped the Olympus Mons fortress. ==Variants== ;*F80 (Death Guns Specifications) :Featured in Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Cluster manga. Customized version of the F80 to suit the Death Guns mercenary squad. The commander type piloted by Gunmad, had slightly differed forehead camera, equipped with use O-Type mission pack. Second unit was piloted by Ian and equipped with Q-Type mission pack. Third unit was piloted by Dodonga Don and equipped with G-Type mission pack. These customized F80 also had special operating system dramatically increased the MS performance on par against specialized Newtype MS. ;*F80 Gunraid (F70 Backpack Type) :Featured in Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Cluster manga, is F80 equipped with F70 type backpack that uses a Triple Machine Cannon and Beam Saber mounted on the right and left side of the backpack. Thanks to the F70-Type backpack, it gave the F80 additional firepower at the cost of lower mobility. ==Gallery== ===Linearts=== <gallery hideaddbutton="true"> File:F80 Commander Front.png|Commander Type File:F80 Commander Shielded.png|Commander type with Shield File:F80 Shielded.png|Standard type with Shield File:F80 Gunraid (Detailed) Front.png|F80 Gunraid (detailed, front view) File:F80 Gunraid Front.png|F80 Gunraid (front view) File:F80 Gunraid Rear.png|F80 Gunraid (rear view) File:F80 Short Beam Rifle.png|Short Beam Rifle File:F80 Shotgun.png|Shotgun File:F80 Shield Front.png|Shield (front view) File:F80 Shield Front Alt.png|Shield colored (front view) File:F80 Shield Rear.png|Shield colored (rear view) File:F80 Shield Rear Blank.jpg|Shield (rear view) File:F80 All View Linearts.jpeg|All view detailed linearts File:Gcannon-cockpit.jpg|Cockpit details (color art) File:F71-cockpit.jpg|Cockpit details (front and rear) </gallery> ===Manga=== ==== Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Cluster ==== <gallery hideaddbutton="true"> File:F90C F80 Gundam 01.png|F80 (Death Guns Specifications) with Anti-Beam Manteus (Vol 1, Chapter 1) File:F90C F80 Gundam 02.jpg|Annihilated Oldsmobile Forces' MS File:F90C F80 Gundam 03.jpg|Infiltrating Olympus Mons fortress File:F90C F80 Gundam 04.jpg|Gunmad's unit removing the Anti-Beam Manteu (Vol 1, Chapter 2) File:F90C F80 Gundam 05.jpg|Dodonga's unit fired Vulcan Guns at a OMS-06RF RF Zaku (Early Type) (Vol 1, Chapter 3) File:F90C F80 Gundam 06.jpg|Gunmad's unit Shooting O-Type's Enhanced Beam Rifle & Shotgun File:F90C F80 Gundam 07.jpg|Firing Short Beam Rifle at a disabled RF Gelgoog File:F90C F80 Gundam 08.jpg|Top Rear View File:F90C F80 Gundam 09.jpg|Gunmad's unit aiming the missile launcher File:F90C F80 Gundam 10.jpg|Charging at Mars Gundam (Vol 1, Chapter 4) File:F90C F80 Gundam 11.jpg|Ian's unit ambushing from behind File:F90C F80 Gundam Cockpit 01.jpg|Cockpit view File:F90C F80 Gundam Cockpit 02.jpg|Cockpit front console view File:F90C F80 Gundam 12.jpg|Ian's unit firing the short beam rifles File:F90C F80 Gundam 13.jpg|Generating beam blade from Multiple Beam Weapon File:F90C F80 Gundam 14.jpg|Using Multiple Beam Weapon against OMS-90R2 Mars Gundam File:F90C F80 Gundam 17.jpg|Rear view File:F90C F80 Gundam 15.jpg|Ramming into Mars Gundam with Large Shield (1) File:F90C F80 Gundam 16.jpg|Ramming into Mars Gundam with Large Shield (2) File:F90C F80 Gundam 18.jpg|Damaged by Mars Gundam File:F90C F80 Gundam 19.jpg|Firing the missile launcher File:F90C F80 Gundam 20.jpg|F80 (Death Guns Specifications) without Anti-Beam Manteus File:F90C F80 Gundam 21.jpg|Dodging beam attacks (1) File:F90C F80 Gundam 22.jpg|Dodging beam attacks (2) File:F90C F80 Gundam 23.jpg|Ian's unit using Death Haunt Screw system (Vol 2, Chapter 5) File:F90C F80 Gundam 24.jpg|Dodonga's unit using Death Haunt Screw system File:F90C F80 Gundam 25.jpg|Head unit damaged File:F90C F80 Gundam 27.jpg|Death Gun's F80 using the using Death Haunt Screw system File:F90C F80 Gundam 26.jpg|Gunmad's unit firing Enhanced Beam Rifle File:F90C F80 Gundam 28.jpg|Gunmad's unit firing Enhanced beam rifle at disabled RF Zaku File:F90C F80 Gundam 29.jpg|Ian & Dodonga unit damaged by enemy Hilt Funnels File:F90C F80 Gundam 30.jpg|Gunmad's unit using Beam Saber (1) File:F90C F80 Gundam 31.jpg|Gunmad's unit using Beam Saber (2) File:F90C F80 Gundam 32.jpg|Death Gun's F80 retreated File:F90C 3 F80 Gunraid 01.jpg|Lyle Wolf's unit using Gundam F90's beam rifle and F70 type backpack (Vol 2, Chapter 9) </gallery> === Illustration & Artworks === <gallery hideaddbutton="true"> File:F80 Closeup Illustration.jpg|Body closeup illustration by Takayuki Yanase File:F90C 1 F80 Illustration.jpg|Bonus art from Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Cluster Vol 1 by Takayuki Yanase </gallery> == Gunpla == <gallery hideaddbutton="true"> File:MG F80 Gunraid Boxart.jpg|MG 1/100 F80 Gunraid Box Art (P-Bandai exclusive, June 2025);
